Sorry for the late posting as I was very very bz with work after my confinement leave. Below is my birth story for baby no.2

Everyone thought that I was going to deliver on Labour Day. Well, baby decided not to come out on this date. We (dad, Keith, maid and I) went to pick up hubby from the airport at about 9 a.m. on Labour Day. I was feeling kinda dizzy while I was waiting at the airport for hubby. Well, I didn’t bother much as I always have this kinda dizzy spell on and off. But, I do have contractions on and off. Hubby asked me to induce and have the baby out on the 1st. At last, I gave in as I was having contractions on and off. My gynae was away over the long weekend and she did inform me during my last check up. Hai…always so unlucky.. During Keith’s labour, my gynae was away and I ended up with Dr. Azizah (the current gynae). Now, for Charlotte’s labour, my current gynae was away for a long weekend and another gynae is taking over.

We went for lunch at about 12.30pm and decided to check in the hospital after lunch at about 3 p.m. I had a shower before we leave the house. We have to distract Keith coz’ he wanted to follow us to the hospital. When my dad and maid distracted him and brought him to the back of the house to see the kittens, we hurriedly enter the car and drove off. Luckily, I manage to get a single room this time. At least I’ll get some peace and quiet. Hubby can also stay overnite with me.Hehe…

When the nurse came and checked on me, I do have contractions on and off. We have to wait for the doctor to come and check on me after dinner. Hubby was kinda fed up waiting coz’ it was 8p.m. and the gynae was not here to check on me yet. At about 8.30p.m., the gynae arrived and she told me that my contraction was kinda frequent and asked me to wait for natural birth.

At about 3.20a.m. when the nurse came and checked my pressure and also baby heart beat, I can feel that my contractions was consistant, every 5 mins. I called up Lorrein the agent for CryoCord. I’ve tried waking hubby up but he couldn’t get up. Lorrein came at about 4a.m. and my contractions from 5 mins has shorten to 4 mins. I’ve started with my breathing to calm myself and also to easy the pain. I was just wondering at that time why the nurse didn’t come in and give me the pump for my poo poo. Hubby got up after that and I told him that my real labour contraction has started. The nurse came in at about 4.30a.m. to check on me again. This time, she said she’s going to let me clean my bowels and then push me to the labour room. After that, hubby went to take his shower. When he came out, I was no more in the room.Haha…Lorrein wanted to go back home and wait for me to dilate further. When she came back to the room, hubby told her that I am in the labour room.

The contractions was getting shorter and shorter in time gap. I had to wait for the contraction to stop before walking into the labour room. I brought my discman along with my hypnobirthing CD in it. i’ve started using the technique learnt when I attended the course while listening to the CD to relax my mind and body. Slowly, I can feel my whole body became numb and only focusing on my uterus area. Hubby was with me in the labour room. Gynae came when I have dilated to 8cm. The pain was getting bad but I was still able to control it. Then, she broke my waterbag. After my waterbag broke, my pain gotten worse. I took off the discman as the pain was unbearable. Hubby looks worried. I kept pulling his t-shirt and grab hold on the metal bar at the side of the bed. I even grabbed on hubby’s hand and bit on it, but I didn’t bite on it hard coz’ I know I’ll hurt him. Haha… Whenever the pain comes, I’ll hug him, with my hand on his bum and another hand on hsi t-shirt. I kept on having the urge to poo poo but the nurses told me not to push yet. I don’t care but kept on pushing whenever the urge is there. Hubby was so worried coz’ the gynae was still no where to be seen when I said I wanted to push. When she came, she still checked on my dilations and just told me..”Ok, Sabrina. You can push now.” Two nurses at the side of me, hubby supporting my back and me holding both side of my thigh. I can see the gynae taking her sweet time washing her hand and the nurses was panicking as the baby’s head was crowning. I don’t even know when the gynae did episotomy for me. This time, with three pushes, Charlotte was out. No more assistance from medical equipment. Just natural birth for Charlotte. After that, the gynae and nurses started collecting the cord blood. Charlotte was born before 7a.m. and weight about 3.24kg. Slightly heavier than Keith. Her length is the same as Keith. This time, blood group same as hubby.

I was really surprised that hubby didn’t faint in the labour room.Haha…He’s so afraid of blood. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and said “I love you” right after Charlotte’s arrival. He said he was more afraid of me biting him than any other thing. If his t-shirt torn, he don’t care.Hahaha
