I got all these info from MJ forum where mothers gave information on their confinement lady. Well, I think it can benefit mom-to-be seeking for confinement lady.
Word of warning: please do interview the confinement lady yourself as the information here is from the mother's experiences (may not be suitable to yours). Use it at your own risk.

I know of a confinement house at Taman Bukit Permai, KL... they take good care of you and the baby in the house. The place is very clean and the food served is home-cooked without msg. Those who are interested may call Sally Lim at 016 - 357 1929 or 03 - 4297 4371. Just say Michelle recommended u.

i have just delivered in July this year, and employed a confinement lady thru my friend, she was very good, although she charge me quite high, but she help me a lot, she cook for my husband and my son, she is caring also, she even prepare a lot of food for me on the day she left, so that i can eat for a few days. anyone who is interested can contact me at claudiasoh@hotmail.com.

My confinement lady is also not bad. She'll try cook different dishes for different meals so that we won't get bored. And besides this, she'll also 'train' your baby to sleep throughout the night so that when your baby is pass back to you after your confinement period, things will be easier for you.

I'd like to recommend my current confinement lady who has been with me for almost 3 weeks since my baby girl was born. She cooks up excellent yummy dishes everyday. I am very pleased with her services. My baby usually have trouble sleeping nights & I would notice that she would help coax her to sleep at ungodly hours at 3-4 AM with no complains. She dashes to our room everytime baby cries in an instant. I have become pretty dependent on her I worry about when she's leaving!

I also provide Massage lady but too bad, it can only be done here. Suggest you mummies go for Malay Massage, it's really work to get rid of the wind and the locha (the dirty blood) during yr confinement, and the wrapping helps you shape yr body faster.
For C-Section mummies, pls put a binder on yr cut, it support/potect your wound and you won't feel much pain. Experienced it by myself.

She's been a confinement lady for more than 10 years and had 12 grandchildren, all of whom she took care during her children's confinement. My confinement lady from Johor have many years experience. Her age is about 40+. She can speak english, cantonese, hakka, mandarin, hokkien and bahasa. In my confinement month I quite busy. First thing in the morning after wake up she will sent my bb for me to breastfeed. Then she will prepare my breakfast. My breakfast change everyday. I can have toast bread, mee suah soup, fried noodle, fried rice with ginger, wan tan noodle, pau, and etc. Then she will bath my bb. At 11.00 a.m she prepare my lunch. She will cook vegetable, pork / fish and soup. Sometimes she will cook up to 4 dish. At that time I will take my herbal bath that she prepare last night. I will take a nap after that. At 3.00 pm she will prepare double boil gingger with rock sugar (for wind) or sometime double boil soup.I will take a nap. Again she will bath my bb at 5.30 pm. By 6.00 pm I will have my dinner. At 9.00 pm I have to take another bowl of double boil soup such as tongkuai with chicken, brandy with chicken, chicken stock, fish stock, ginseng with chicken, and etc. I must sleep at 10.30 pm . Her menu change everyday, so you won't feel jerk about the confinement food. I can tell you my food is very tasty.She is my third child confinement lady so I know a lot of rules do and don't. Her price is about RM 2400-RM 2500. She even cook for my family member when they come to visit me on Sunday. (I mean four sunday and she didn't complain) She is Mrs Ngiam at 019 7580034.
Slim - No Longer A Confinement Lady
There are many agents who provide confinement services. But which nanny u get depends on your luck. I was lucky ... i got mine from an agent who advertised on the papers.. she recommened me a nanny from JB...mine has a way with my son ... he somehow has the special touch yto calm down my wailing son...but cooking so so only ... at least she is not nosy or try to make u do things her way. I have a very good confinement lady from Malaysia. I had my baby just one and a half months ago, and the confinement lady helped with cooking, cleaning the house, doing the laundry and taking care of the baby. She's very hardworking - and not like the fussy confinement ladies who won't let you take a bath etc. What I liked the most is her genuine affection for my baby - so I know she wasn't just "doing a job".
I recomend her - she stays in Bentong. Her no. is 09-222 1099. |

I don't know if it is good to post this but as an experience sharing I guess everyone would be interested to know why I've blacklisted her. If handphone number isn't enough you may PM me to get her name, addr, etc.
1. Sleep with LIGHTS ON at night with my baby. Eventhough agreed with us to switch it off and turn on the lights in the toilet, she didn't comply as we found out in the middle of the nite.
2. Didn't burp my bb the way it should... Imagine spilt milk over my bb gal's face?
3. She walked in to our room at 0830 serving my wife noddles while she was still asleep?
4. Bath..this is the best part, and the main reason why we fired her off on the second morning.
- Didn't hold my gal properly...flip her like she is flipping a coin. bb gal was yelling so hard..
- cover her with bath tower from her FACE onwards and carry her to the bed to drying..
- put her on her stomach, FACE DOWN, to wipe her back!
- slowly taking her sweet time applying lotion when my gal has started shivering!!!
My wife was dropping her tears when she saw that.. So next hour when I got back home we decided to let her go.
I feel that these days CL is no longer a 'profession' especially true to those in their early 40s who has just started their 'profession'.. only to 'cari makan'. 2 things that we learnt from this confinement:
1. Never trust anyone from the .net that this CL is good and that CL is fantastic. One man's meat is another man's poison.
2. Good to establish what would be the early dismissal 'cost'. Tell them straight you wanna see their work first before deciding whether month long employment is ''sustainable''. Is always good to ask if she is ok if we pay her on daily prorated basis. So that if you can 'test' her work out without the worries of being told to paid rm500 for early dismissal! (that's what we were told!).

Hope you n your wife are feeling better now....How are you getting along without the confinement lady? You can opt to cater confinement food which my friends said it is quite good.
Having a confinement lady is like having a maid. If get a good one, it is a blessing  . If get a bad one, it will be a nightmare... |

Sorry to hear about your CL mishap. Now a days I am hearing so much bad news about CL. Sounds like yours is very in experience.
By the way, who recommended you this CL?
I heard you can call the Confinement house to see whether they have any free CL to help ya.

Hi Michelle, there was a story even before this... The CL that I've confirmed beforehand 'FFK'/MIA after my wifey delivered, couldn't reached her for 40 hours! So i was desperate so went to MJ forum to dig out the phone list(with limited filtering)! Didn't expect to go into such trouble!! The phone number I put in here can be found in MJ forum.. ;)

I would like to recommend my current confinement lady. Her name is Lan Yee and is contactable on 016-9188648. She's very experienced in taking care of the baby and her cooking is delicious! You can say that Paik Ling recommended.  |
