Having A Tall Boy
Tuesday, October 14th, 2008
I always wanted to blog about this but I always forget about it. Everyone tells me that Timothy is tall for his age. Yeap, he follows his papa’s gens. Having a tall boy is very convenient for mummy. He is able to help himself with the toilet light switch by 3.5 years old. Now he is helping his sister with it. He is also able to get cups and bowls from the kitchen bars by himself. Of coz the kettle area is prohibited area for both of them.
Beside the toilet light switch, every morning when he wakes up early, he walked downstairs and helped himself with the lights and fan. Of coz he also switched on cartoons himself. He is an early bird also from papa’s gens.
That’s the good thing of having a tall boy. I am waiting for Emily to reach the toilet light, she is 1 inch away. Let see whether he can make it by 5.

Over A Piece Of Paper
Monday, September 15th, 2008
Yesterday Timothy woke up from his afternoon nap and was in an annoying mood. He started to whine making noises as he wanted daddy to draw one of his Transformers. Daddy gave in and drew one for him. He was coloring it and adding some pictures of his own. He went back into his normal self. He really knows how to annoy daddy and I with his whining. If we scold him, he will cry nonstop and I am not exaggerating. However his crying has reduced as he grows up.
I had some friends over for a pot bless dinner and he was showing his Transformer drawing to some of them. Towards the end as I was cleaning up and he was playing with his “kau fu”, my brother, I threw some paper away. I didn’t know what it was.
After everyone left, he started looking for his drawing and couldn’t find it. He started whining again asking me to help him find. He didn’t want to go to bed until I find the drawing. I was able to send him up to his bedroom but he was still whining.
I had no choice but to go to the dustbin and dig out the garbage to see what I threw. Fortunately it was on the top. I had to sanitize it with some dettol spray before I went up to his bedroom to show him. If he didn’t see it, I bet he will not be able to sleep in peace. He was happy again. Sigh.
I don’t blame him as I will feel not satisfied if I lost something and couldn’t find it. However as an adult we can get over it. I guess Timothy needs to learn to get over things. Any idea how to teach a child to get over things? I tried distraction but it didn’t work.
By the way, I tell you in a couple of days he will forget about that piece of paper and he will chucked it to the dustbin himself.

Mooncake Menu
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008
Tim is a fan of mooncake, fortunately it is once a year kind of festival. The way Tim eats mooncake, I probably will go bankrupt soon. He can finished one mooncake all by himself. Mooncakes are not what it used to be. I am still a fan of the traditional mooncakes. Now mooncakes comes in many colors and very costly. I remember I used to buy it for half the price.
A few weeks back, I was shopping at Jusco with Tim and Emily. Tim saw mooncakes and his eyes were big. He kept asking me to buy. I asked him what he wants as there are so many types to choose from. In Jusco, the mooncake’s stalls were setup in rows. Each brand has a menu. Tim picked up the menu and scanned through. He went to the next and the next because he couldn’t find what he wanted. Finally found one stall which have his type but the promoter was nowhere to be found. He was very upset.
He went to another stall to scan the menu again. After the third stall, he found another of his choice. However, the promoter said that it ran out of stock. Tim was frustrated. By now he scanned through all the stalls but none avail. Anyway we waited for the MIA promoter to return, she did and Tim was happy.
As for Emily, she told me that she wanted the purple yam mooncake and got what she wants. Simple. Now guess what mooncake Tim wanted? I think only 2 brands has it.
Tim was looking for is the dragon fruit mooncake, dark pink in the inside.

Tim’s Art Gallery
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008
You all know Tim loves drawing. Now whatever he draws, he will paste it onto the wall of the stair case using tape. It is like his mini art gallery. Most of his recent drawings are on Transformers. Sometimes he tried to duplicate flyers or something he sees.
Guess what is this?

Favorite Pizza Topping
Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Can you guess what Timothy’s Favorite Pizza Topping is? Whenever we eat pizza, he would go digging for his favorite topping and whack them all. He will not leave any for us. I remembered when he was younger, he didn’t like it. He would spit it out. Now it is a different story. Oh well, I probably should request extra of this topping, next time I ordered a pizza.

More Than Meets The Eye

Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Robots in Disguise
Transformers
Autobots wage their Battle
To destroy the evil forces
Of the Decepticons
Ku Ku Chu Chu Cit Cit
That’s the sound when Tim’s transformer transforms. Yes, he will use his transformer robots to fight against one another. He can play by himself for hours battling the robots. Taking Optimus Prime and Bumblebee to fight with other robots.
I am not allowed to transform any of his robots. He liked it the way it is. What does Emily do to disturb him? Walk right up and steal one of his transformers. It will end up two of them battling with one another with noise, not so much physical. Sometimes I let them fight their own battle but when it gets too noisy, I will have to step in. And that’s how it goes.

Afraid of The Dark
Monday, March 31st, 2008
Guess who is afraid of the dark? I am not sure when Tim developed the fear of dark. When he was younger, he had no problem entering a dark room. Up until recently, he told me to accompany him upstairs or to the toilet. The Chinese will call him “sai tam”.
Oh well, here is a funny thing he said to me.
Tim: Mummy, come follow me to the toilet.
Mummy: The kitchen light is on and there is nothing to be afraid off.
Tim: Come, come *pulling my hand*. I am afraid that Barney suddenly appeared.
Mummy: Barney? Now why would Barney appear???!!
Tim: See *pointing at a Barney cardboard that is below the dustbin*
Hrmm…no more Barney shows for him from now on. Yeap the purple dino is haunting my Tim. Don’t laugh!

Timothy’s Gift
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008
Timothy’s gift finally arrived, all the way from US. What is it? It is no other than the new version of a Bumblebee Autobot transformer. The car is a Camaro, the original was a Volkswagen. Timothy was pretty excited. He tore the box but it was tougher than he thought. He yelled out for mummy. I tore the box and transform the toy for him. It takes a while for him to learn.
Yeap, I had to bid for it in Ebay. It was slightly below RM50. The original toy store called Hasbro was out of stock. After I ordered it, it was on stock again. Sigh.
Daddy got a toy too. What is 8G has a cool browser and you can call people with it. Go to http://parkbay.net to find out. I managed to hack it too!

Timothy’s Cake
Tuesday, March 18th, 2008
What else could it be? Of coz, none other than the Transformers cake. mama’sof 2littlefellas, there is transformers cartoon. You can view the cartoon series in YouTube.
By the way, in Penang we do not have that many cake stores. We cannot get any 3D cakes easily too. I went to Eden cake store and look at their available cartoons. No Transformers. I have to search in the Internet for Bumble Bee, photoshoped it with the 2 Transformer logos. One logo is for the good transformers and the other is the bad called “decepticons”. Can you guess which is which? If you cannot, ask your son.
Here is what I gave to the cake store:

This is what I got:

Aren’t they amazing? I really salute the one who drew it on the cake or maybe shake his hand. What did the cake taste like? I have no idea. Timothy had the celebration in his school and the children ate it all up. Imagine it was a 2kg cake. Nothing left for mummy and papa. Not even the candles.

Birthday Vacation
Monday, March 17th, 2008
Where did we go? Hawaii? Nah, it was like Hawaii but we were at Penang Golden Sands Hotel. First it had a great view from our room. I booked a sea view room. Look what my 2 monkeys did when they check in to the room?

My children were too excited, at least for Tim, he didn’t nap. He was anxious to swim and play water at the pool. Both of them had a great time in the pool with dad, while I relaxed at the sun bathing bench, catching up with some reading. It has wifi in the hotel.

Emily was brave, she tried out horse riding on her own. The horseman was clever, he carried Emily to sit on the horse although we didn’t agree on the price of the ride. It was RM50.
I was clever too and made a bargain for it, brought it down. Most of the activities on the beach were RM50. No wonder they had so many Jet Skies lined up. Of coz, sand play was FREE. By the way, there is also an Adventurous Zone for kids, just like kidsport in 1 Utama.
At night, my hubby decided to take us to SPICE MARKET in Rasa Sayang Shangri-la for buffet. We only had to pay for 2 adults. It was a great buffet with lots of fresh oyster, clams, big prawns, lobsters, Japanese food, satay, Indian Tandoori, sharkfin soup, local desserts, cakes, ice-cream, waffles, fruit juices and lots of food. I was so full when I finished. Oooh, there was a chocolate fountain with strawberries, marshmallows and dried peaches. Yummy! The price was RM120++ per adult. On special day, it may differ.
Oh well, it was worth the vacation for just 1 night. Who sez we have to go to Bali to enjoy?!! Guess what cartoon cake we got for Timothy? His gift is on the way, when it reaches Penang next week, I will tell you what it is. My gift too…hehehehe.

Here are some of Timothy’s latest art pieces. He can sit quietly and draws for hours. I hope Emily can follow him one day.

Birthday Reminder
Monday, February 18th, 2008
How do you know your child’s birthday is coming? When he starts reminding you to buy his favorite toy and cake. It is part of motherhood to get what a child wants on his birthday. I was given a mission by Tim to hunt for his transformer toy called “Bumble Bee”. Last week, I thought I have completed the mission when I placed the order online.
Today, I found out that I ordered the wrong thing. Back to square 1. One other blogger is hunting down the same thing for her son. Her husband told her that it is difficult to get because limited edition. I found a couple but it is overpriced. I mean double the price.
One online store I found had stocks in March. Let’s hope the stock will come in. I thought I better update Tim.
Mummy: Hey Tim, the transformer bumblebee is no more in stock. Have to wait for uncle to make more.
Tim: Why no more?
Mummy: By the way, the one you selected can only sing and dance but cannot transform.
Tim: Huh? I want to transform. *look strangely at me*
Mummy: Then you have to wait.
Tim: You find for me yeah. *look a bit disappointed*
Mummy: Ok, I will do my best.
Tim: Ok.

If you know where I can find one of these for not more than RM50, let me know.

No Entry!
Saturday, February 16th, 2008
Tim surprises me all the time with his funny bone. Today I went to the study room and saw this on the wall.

He told me that he saw some ants on the wall and he put this up so that the ants do not go there.
How cute. He is really good in expressing himself with drawing. I think he uses his right brain more. My hubby said that Tim is a visual person like him and he picks up things faster if he sees it.
It explains why I had difficulty teaching him spelling. He doesn’t like doing memory work. I must think of a more visual way to teach him spelling.
As Vien puts it: No Ant-ry!
