One More Day

School Holiday is here after one more day at school. I guess it started after exams are over for the children. I bet some already were given holiday homework to do. The school break is only 1 week. Not much we can do.

By the way, 2 of my kids’ birthday fall at the start of the holiday. Timothy’s birthday will be on Sunday. He already asked for his present. Not a toy? But a pool party. Guess where? I am not going to throw any big party but invited my nephew and my niece to a pool party. I will blog more when I have the pictures next.

I am still trying to think what to do for the rest of the holidays? Maybe I will take them to do some craft at the craft center.

Tim says “School’s Out!”

Places To Relax

You know there a lot of good places to go in US. I mean you don’t have to fly but can take a drive to some good places for vacation. Hotels are affordable especially when you get good online rates. I saw some good deals with Branson Missouri vacation packages [1] online.

Here I am finding is hard to cook up something for my family to go. They have 1 week holiday and I don’t really want to spend so much money. I wonder if I just take the car to drive, will I land up in a good vacation resort. I must try it someday.

Scary World Out There

Lately there are a lot of tragic cases happenings surrounding children. One almost kidnapped cases, a few fire cases and yesterday “Man Armed With Hammer Assaults Pre-School Children” [1]. My heart dropped when I saw this news on the TV last night. I pray that the injured children will recover from physical injury as well as getting over the traumatic experience.

If you are sending your children to pre-school, do your child a favor. Ensure that the principal locked the premises gate or door. Safety must come first. I heard of some school is now thinking of getting security guard for the school.

I constantly pray for my children protection that nothing bad will happen to them.

Tough Exam Papers

I have learn, it is good for the school to have tough exam papers. If most of the school children do not perform well, then the teachers need to work harder to ensure the students know their stuff. Of coz, parents like me have to prep our children more to ensure they keep up to speed with the teaching.

I was happy to hear a comment from my boy’s English teacher that she will ensure all her class students know their stuff for the next exam. I am not sure how she will do it but I can see the passion in her. I am glad she wasn’t defensive but was able to ensure her students improve. Kudos to her!

I wonder how the BM teacher will react when I go and see her.

System Memory Upgrade Required

My computer is getting slower by the day. I am not sure whether you hit this problem, when the notebook is new, it starts up very fast. As years go by, it will get slower and slower. Then I need to upgrade the system memory [1].

I am suspecting it is the OS patching that drives the performance down. Or it may be caused by some applications having memory leak. I really wished that they make a more efficient OS that can maintain the performance. Now I have to wait at least 5 minutes for it to start up every morning. I guess it is time to tech refresh it.

General Losing Weight Tip

I have been reading quick trim reviews [1]. I always wonder why people would risk health to take the easy way out. Some folks just take any diet product without reading reviews or seeking doctor advice. They probably are attracted by the advertisement on TV or sales talk by the promoter.

You and I know, in order to lose weight, you need to work hard. You need to burn more fat than your intake. Regular exercise and balance diet will help. If you need to snack, do it with fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumber or celery. I love snacking on Japanese Edamame, green soybean.

If all else fail, seek your doc advice first.

Life Insurance Made Easy

I didn’t know there is such a thing called Wholesale Insurance. TheWholesale Insurance life insurance rates [1] are attractive, affordable and easy. You can get an online quote or help.

They probably make it easier for you to get insurance. Less hassle. I hope the claims would be immediate too. Sometimes many insurance companies provide you with easy way to buy a plan or package. However they do not provide you with any tools to claim.

Ensure you also asked them about the claim process and educate your beneficiaries. Not that you will be around to get any of it. :giggles:

Meet The Teachers

Well I said I had to feedback to the teacher about the exam paper not in line with the syllabus taught in class. I had to see more than 1 teacher because Tim has different teacher for different subjects.

I met the English teacher, she was a nice lady. She told me that she took over the class only 3 weeks ago. She did prep the class what to expect in the exams. Obviously my boy was in lala land and didn’t tell me. I believed her. In the English paper, Tim wrote this for making sentence:

Mrs. Leong wears cheongsam.

She didn’t give him any marks at first. My opinion should be given some marks although she was looking for

Mrs. Leong is wearing a cheongsam.

I believe both are equally correct grammatically. Finally she did give him marks for that. Let me know if I am wrong…

Next was the Maths teacher, she approached me. She told me the teacher who set the Math paper was from another school. The new teacher had a different expectation. I told her the exam was to test whether the student learn things taught in the classroom. Maybe the school expects us to send our children to tuition. Then again, if we do that what is the school for?

I have yet to meet with the BM teacher. Oh by the way, the BM teacher is also the new teacher who sets the Math’s question. This is one of the questions for BM paper for Std 2:

“Pada cuti yang lepas, anda dan keluarga telah melancong ke Pulau Langkawi. Ceritakan pengalaman anda.” (Tidak kurang daripada 60 patah perkataan)

Generally I heard most of the students didn’t do well for this term. I also heard that apparently one girl scored all hundred. Guess what? She is the daughter of one of the class teacher. Next is, one class was prep by the teacher and did an exercise on one of the BM question. The rest of the other classes were left out. The news I got from kepoh-ing with some of the parents.

Shred Some Fat

I need to start my work out on the treadmill again. I have been deserting my treadmill and because I paid a lot on it, need to fully utilize it. Exercise for me is the best diet pills [1]. After eating so much good food from my mom’s cooking, I need to shred some fat off. Imagine I got 2 new tops and I cannot wear it. Boo ho ho.

I am glad I got the treadmill. If you ask me to go to the gym, I would probably cook up lots more excuses. With the treadmill, I can do exercise at home and at anytime I want to. Emily joined me too at times.

CNY Food

After the CNY festival and eating lots of heaty fried goodies, I think I need some acne facial wash [1]. My little pimples are popping here and there. I am glad they are little as I used to get big ones.

People say, enjoy first worry later. I love eating the sugar coated chips, I ate almost half the tub. I got 2 small tubs and a big one. Fortunately I gave 1 small one away. I don’t usually buy any CNY cookies, sweets or chips. My relatives or friends were very kind to give me. My babysitter made hers and gave us some too.

Funny, this year I got a box of mandarin oranges, it ran out fast. Then I got 2 more boxes for Sunday School children. Coincidently, the SS adviser also got 2 boxes. I gave away a lot of oranges but still had 1.5 box left. I gave half box to my part time maid, half box to Emily’s principal and my family consume the left over half. All gone now.

Muscle Man

Many years back, I know a colleague who constantly go to the gym and pump up his muscles. I am not sure whether he took any testosterone booster [1]. He has great muscles.

When I first join the company, the IT department sent me a new 15 inch huge size monitor. It was in a box under my desk. Being a petite lady, how do you expect me to carry the monitor from the floor? Those days the monitors are heavy, so much different from today LCD monitor.

I called Mr. Muscle Man to help me. He carried it with no sweat. Thanks to him, I was able to set up my computer.

Results Are Out

Tim’s exam is over and results are out. He didn’t do well in BM and Maths. I kind of expected it because he didn’t do much revision and the exam papers are tough. He did well in paper 1 in BM but not paper 2.

Paper 2 is writing story in BM (aka karangan). If I knew karangan was in the exam, I should have prep him more. From his homework, I didn’t see any work on karangan. I am surprised it appeared in the exam paper. He has no problem in making sentences in BM. In section 2, he didn’t understand the question. He was given a choice to write a story with a title or write a story with words given or write a story with picture given. He just has no clue and left the section with 1 sentence. I wonder did the teacher explain to the class what they were supposed to do. I must check with other parents.

Next is Math, I found the paper a little difficult for Std 2 first term and the teacher didn’t teach some of the math problem in the class. Looks like the paper is ahead of their syllabus thought in class.

Example of a tough question, more like a riddle than a Math question:

Aini has 6 books. Mary has 8 books more than Aini but 7 books less than Susan. How many books does Susan have?

Guess for me, I need to prep Tim more for next revision. No stick and oranges this time around.

Tent Lover

My gal loves to sleep in the tent which is why I bought her a nice tent from US. She sleeps in it very often. She even put it on her bed and squeezed to sleep in it. She has long legs, obviously you will see her legs sticking out the door of the tent. I got this tent from amazon.com and it is really pretty. It is easy to keep, all you have to do is fold it back.

Of coz, when I am away on business trip, papa will set up a tent in the living hall for both to camp indoor. They love it very much.

And every time we traveled back to KL in the car, I put a blanket in between 2 seats. It looks like a tent to her and she will happily sleep under it. It will help to keep the hot sun shining on her face. Of coz she has a seat belt on, she takes the middle belt. Safety comes first. Nice to see her sleep peacefully.

Things They Said…

Our family does not subscribe to Astro, hubby just wants to keep them off the TV and does more non-TV stuff. During CNY visitation,

Timothy: Mummy, let’s go visit people’s house who has Astro so that I can watch their Astro.

In fact we did visit a few houses with Astro CN. Whose house got Astro CN, Timothy wants to visit you.

xoxoxox

Mummy: When you grow up, where you want to work?
Emily: I want to work in your office so that I can work from home.

xoxoxox

My children were eager to open their CNY angpows. I let them because I wanted them to put away some to contribute to the church. They were all excited to check how much they collected.

Emily: Mummy, this one has 4 money but this only has one. I want more with 4 money.

Actually, the 4 pieces are RM1 notes but the 1 is RM50. Maybe I should give her four RM1 in exchange for her RM50. :giggles:

Sell Your Textbooks Online

I had to cleared things from my old room in KL. I had lots of textbooks from my school days. I wished I can sell textbooks online [1] and make some money out of those. I remembered when I was in University, there is a shop there that buy back our textbooks. I also sold a lot of it to my juniors.

Good news for you who has textbooks, you can actually sell it online with SellBackYourBook.com. It is very simple. They also pay for your shipping using US Postal Service Media Mail rate.

I hate throwing books away and this is a good way to get rid of it. Someone out there may need those books.

Insurance Leads

It is tough to be an insurance agent. Everyone will want to avoid one here. Maybe some insurance agents gave a bad name by hassling people to buy their plans.

It is not the end of the world for them because of insurance advertising [1]. Through insurance advertising, they can get good leads. People who are interested to buy insurance will go to them.

A good way to get started with insurance leads and from those leads, you may get other contacts.

KL CNY Fun

After 7 days in Kuala Lumpur, I guess my children had the most fun. I asked them whether they want to go back, all thumbs up. That’s because they...

Collected lots of angpows while mummy giving a lot away too.

On a hot day, they wanted to swim in my sis condo pool. They had the entire pool by themselves.

They went to Berjaya Times Square Cosmo’s World Theme Park. Emily rode on the bumper cars many times while Tim did it once. He didn't feel comfortable in the car as he has long legs. They went on the train, merry-go-round, swinging ship, fantasy trill, crazy bus, train ride and playground. There wasn’t any queue which they can afford to go on those rides many times. It is just like a mini Genting there. Emily wanted to ride the bumper car again and again and again….. If I didn’t make a dinner appointment, I bet she can be there the whole day.

They had fun in the free Ikea indoor playground while I did my Ikea shopping. They also got two containers home for their toys.

They ate gelato, homemade yogurt and of coz the McD ice-cream. It was a hot day, so I just let them have it. They discovered the 7-11 coolest drink in the world aka Slurpee.

Bought plenty of books from MPH. Some were gift from my mom.

They had Shabu Shabu [1] steamboat which I love.

I wanted to bring them to Desa waterpark but the weather was gloomy during the last 2 days we were there.

As for me, when I came back, I had to prepare for Sunday School CNY special. So much to do and so little time. I didn’t meet with any of you, so sorry.

Affordable Insurance

Lately I been hearing a few people I know either sick or had bad accidents. It is very sad for some, they do not have any insurance coverage. Medical insurance can be expensive for those who cannot afford it. For some, they are not aware that they can afford to have a plan for the family. I hope to see more insurance plan cater for lower income group.

Many insurance companies here do not like to publish their rates because of competition. I like the North Carolina health insurance [1] website which detailing all rates. They even have a comparison charts for us to view different plans. I hope to see more insurance companies here follow their footsteps. By the way, with them you apply online too or contact them directly.

Smelly Skunk

Papa accidentally let out some air and Emily called him Smelly Skunk. I am amazed that she can create such a funny remark.

Another word I thought her is “drama queen”. She asked me what it was and I just have to tell her what she did at one occasion. She knew straight away what drama queen meant.

Today, I got her a mathematic Kumon book since she develop an interest in solving mathematics equations. She is happy when she gets it all correct. Kumon books are pretty costly. However I cannot find any good mathematics books for her age.

Today I had another good meal in my aunt’s place. The roast duck was delicious. I may need to visit bestfatburners.org [1] for help. To add to the meal, I bought Yew Sang with extra salmon and Japanese jellyfish from Jusco. I love the Yew Sang from Jusco. Every year, I must have it.
