Women who consume higher amounts of the fatty acid DHA in their last trimester of pregnancy have babies with healthier sleep patterns, according to a new study from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. These infants spend more time in brain-boosting "quiet" sleep, says study co-author Carol Lammi-Keefe, Ph.D. She advises moms-to-be to eat about three servings a week of low-mercury fish such as salmon and canned tuna.
