Vacation At Last!!

Last week, I decided to make my vacation happen. I suddenly have the urge to go somewhere, not sure where but somewhere. I told my hubby and finally we picked Langkawi. After the thought of having to take an hour ferry across with the children, the idea flew off. My son has motion sickness, worried he might vomit in the ferry.
Anyway, as I was surfing the Internet, I went to MAS website. My fingers got itchy and find out the rates of return tickets to Langkawi. It came up to RM600+ for my entire family (2 adults and 2 children). I send an email to my hubby and he said, “Let’s do it”. What a cool hubby I have! My hubby has a relative in the hotel line in Langkawi, she may be able to get us some special rates. At the end of the day, I was afraid that the flights would be fully booked, as we will be going during the Raya holidays. I called up MAS to secure some flight seats. The agent told me I can get a 25% discount on my fare and Emily can go on an infant rate (below 2). It ended with less than RM500 for the whole family inclusive of tax. Great deal! Today, I collected the tickets from the airport.
I told my son about going on the airplane. He was very excited about it or maybe I was making him excited. I live very close the airport, every now and then, I will take him to the airport to see planes. I make sure I got window seats for him on the flight.
Anyone been to the Mangrove Tour in Langkawi? One of the website state that it is a must to go. However it will be a boat ride to places like caves, fishing village, the Mangrove Jungle, Langkawi Archipelago and The Lake of Pregnant Maiden. Not sure whether it is suitable for children. What other places should we visit beside the Underwater world?

hehe..now u don’t need to sew bean bag liao :P..i’m not sure what mangrove u toking bout, i did went to one..the mangrove was all dead and dried..it was a walk into the restaurant..wasn’t too appealing to me. For children, I think Underwater World is a good place. Oso try going to black sand beach, the sand realy black, something different merr. As for Lake of Pregnant Maiden, i think that’s part of Island Hoping tour thing, not too sure.

to go the the Lake hor… you need to go by small boat I think… don’t think you kids can handle it… very very bumpy! -

yaloh, I have been to the lake (can’t remember which lake) too, need to go by small boat and it was real fun dive into the lake!

Ya, the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden, Pulau Singa (a tiny zoo + mangrove I think), and Pulau Bras Basah is part of the Island Hopping. The Lake of the Pregnant Maiden is kinda hectic as u need to climb up and down the steps for awhile and the lake is quite deep. So becareful with the children.The Underwater World is quite good as they’ve already done some renovations. When I went there 2 years back, it was not that attractive. Now I heard it’s better.

Gee, sooo nice of ur hubby. Just call him and immediately said ‘Why not’. If mine, he’ll “eh, eh, let me think about it first” – sigh …. (anyway, I don’t like travelling, hee, hee).
Why do u have to take a ferry? I went there with hubby and 3 frens. Took a plane, reached the island and there were these buses or rather coaches waiting outside the airport. Took the ‘correct’ one and were transported to the respective hotel. We stayed in Awana Porto Malai Langkawi – nice view of the sea, comfortable too. Saw Datuk Azhar’s boat (my main point of going there) but guess it’s a wreakage now (after the tsunami).
We rented a car and went around. Other than dat of the Underworld World (I’m sure Tim and Emily will love the place – so many fishes – I got a shock looking at a tank for a very, very big fish and suddenly it swam out of nowhere and I sort of jumped backwards! Gosh, it was huge and long and ugly looking), Eagle Square will be a good spot for Tim and Emily to run around. The small small islands (one of the hotel’s activities – where they would organise and arrange to ferry u to the islands – u’ve to pay for the trip) were also very fascinating (if u like to go out to the sea). U have to becareful when u sit on those boats, the ‘drivers’ will just ‘swing’ their way. Grab Tim and Emily tightly. U can try the banana boat rides, parachuting (take u up in the sky hanging on the parachute and ‘dragging’ u by the boat). I was wondering whether I would land in the sea or what if the strings ‘snapped’, luckily landed on the shore and there were 2 guys who quickly came to grab me – gee, exciting (hee, hee, not the 2 guys – dark and not handsome, of course the banana ride and parachuting).
Aiyo, better not tell u too much else it won’t be interesting liao. But don’t forget the seafood.

Egghead: Sometimes I do procrastinate especially those decisions that I don’t like to do. If there is a will, I will make sure it happens.

I’ve never been to Langkawi, so don’t know what’s there to offer. Say, just wanna highlight that my sis once took an Air Asia place from Penang to KL for only RM10. damn cheap man

whao…so long never been to Langkawi, must go next year (not school holiday lar).
never been there since 1998, so a lot changes I bet.
You have a good trip, and take a lot pictures, come back update us, so I will know what to look for when I go next year ;).
