    • Mybabybay 2.2.1

      July 9, 2007

Finally after 3 years, I have moved my blog from version 1.5.2 to 2.2.1. I was so used to the editor in 1.5.2 that I was reluctant to move. The editor is a simple form of text and code input where I can write code on it without any hassle. The new version restricts or mess up my codes.

However as time goes on a lot of new plugins do not work for legacy versions. I had to do something before my blog turn into antic and cannot be upgraded.

The process of upgrading a legacy blog is tedious. First I need to export the entire blog into xml format. The first extraction was 16MB and my host can only take 2MB. :wall: I learn that I had to delete some spam comments from my database. After deletion, it shrinks to 4MB. Not bad eh, still not good enough. I had to split the files into 2MB each.

Second roadblock, after I imported the post over, my PPP post have to be renumbered to match with what I submitted to PPP. I had to twitch the database to do that. Nothing complicated.

Third step, copy the links over using the database export and import.

Last step, the easiest, that is to copy the template by copying the template folder to the new blog.

All in a days work. Sorry for the technical boring post but it is an achievement for me. It feels good to successfully tackle roadblocks. I hope with this new version, you won’t face TCPIP or network error. If you do, sorry it is my host server fault.

    • I don’t have to buy any coloring books anymore. If you have a printer and a computer with Internet connection, you can print out any pictures your child wants. All you have to do is go to Google -> Images and search for “Coloring” and the choice of pictures. If you want pooh, type coloring pooh, mickey mouse type coloring mickey mouse and etc.. Click the Picture and click the thumbnail on the top to bring the picture onto the browser and print.

Timothy has been asking me to print him airplane, ultraman, cruise ship, bus, disneyland, train and others. He has not stopped asking since. Emily will follow his request. You can find most of the pictures the child wants. Try it.

I have yet to find a nice picture of London Bridge (aka London Tower Bridge), let me know if you can find it.

We had a choice between the Singapore Science Center and Jurong Bird Park. Both I heard were equally good. My hubby had 1 day off on Labor day, so we could only go to 1. After much discussion with him, we pick Singapore Science Center, at least it is in door and the children can learn and have fun with Science.

Singapore Science Center is located in Jurong East, you can take MRT to Jurong East Station on East West Line and transfer to bus no 335. We took a cab instead.

We made the right decision, there are so many things to play, learn and have fun. We started with the Omni-Theatre, a dome shape IMAX theater that gives a 4D effects movie. We learnt about the human body.

There is also a mini water park for children to have fun. If we knew about it, we would have bought an extra change of clothes. My children just love playing with water. The place is huge, we could only cover the Atrium, even that we didn’t finished all the science stations. We didn’t go to the Snow City.

Entrance fee is $6 for adult and $3 for child, for IMax theatre $10 for adult and $5 for child, per movie. We bought the special package $12.80 per adult and $6.40 for child. Food wise, there are not many places to eat, only 3. McDonalds, a buffet lunch or Rocks café. There were a crowd in all food places since it was a public holidays, even the buffet lunch have to make reservation. We ended up in McDonalds. I must say that the kid’s meals are healthy, not the nuggets but they serve milk drink and fresh apples, instead of oily fries and soft drinks.

The most interesting thing we saw was the Lightning demo or experiment, my hubby recorded it for you to watch. Don’t worry, there is no thunder but an explosion at the end.

More pictures on how fun and educated the day was.

    • TV Hoggers

      April 10, 2007

I have 2 TV hoggers at home. They always want to watch their favorite cartoons. Demanding for Mr Bean, Barney, Monster Eye and etc… Sometimes they just want to leave it on and not watch it. However when I switch channel, they will make noise.

Usually at the evening, I would want to catch the TVB series. Most of the time, when I say I want to watch Chinese Show, they will let me have my hour of TVB series. However, not in peace, they will make background noises or ask me questions.

Today, with my 20inch IMAC, they can watch their cartoon and a big screen, just like in the movie theatre. Daddy had taken out the funny looking speaker and the sound quality is fantastic. While the watch their cartoon in the study room, I can watch my TVB series in peace.

Look at the funny IMAC speaker called “Harman Kardon SoundSticks II”

  • Exams Exams Exams

    August 7, 2006

How many of you who have left school or college or university but still get haunted by exams? I thought I could escape from it but it seems not.

I have lots of nightmares about exams. The dreams were always about the exam time is running out and I have completed all the questions or maybe got stuck in the first few questions. A few times, I dreamt I had missed one box of those objective sheet and all the following answers were out of sync. I even dreamt that I totally forgot to study for the subject and went into the exam hall point blank. These dreams really give me sweaty palms. Anyone can explain or interpret why I am having these dreams?

Come to think of it, I never fail any subject in my University time. However I still do not understand why I have this exam phobia. There is one time when my monthly test was a total disaster. The test was simple, it was mathematics, I had to build up the answers with the formula given. I got nervous and started with the wrong figure, all the figures after that was wrong. Got an egg for that test. Fortunately they took the best 5 out of those monthly tests to add to the finals.

Enough about the nightmares because it will become a reality soon, let’s hope not. I will be getting myself certified with basic ITIL. It is a requirement for me to take it. With this course, I need go for lectures for 3 days, study, burn midnight oil, no shopping and sit for an hour paper at the end. :wall: It will make me very nervous. Jazzmint, who is already basic ITIL certified, send me some mock up exams papers and answers. It helps a lot to bring down my anxiousness.

  • The Prize

    February 19, 2006

My family went to get the prize. We can only choose from 1 shop in Penang, Sony Central Audio. Before hand, my hubby and I discussed what we were getting. It fits perfectly with our budget. We got a Sony Home Theater System. Now my children can have virtual Barney sitting next to them with the DTS surround sound system.
