    • My Mother’s Love

This blog is dedicated to my mom. I never knew how my mother’s love could be so unconditional and sacrificial until I become a mother myself.

      My childhood years:

I remember that I was a sick child. I get fits from fever and my fever can go up above 100 degree. Every time I get a fever, she will be very worried. One time, I remember she carried me out to find a doctor in the evening. She didn’t stop until she found one. The doctor was about to close his clinic. She begged him to examine me. He did because of my history of fits. Fortunately I out grew it after I was 5.

      My teenage years:

A funny moment came, when she explained to me how menstruation is like. I had like 101 questions to ask. She thought me how to use a pad and how to throw it away properly.

My mom always waited for me when I come home late. No matter how late, she will not sleep until I return home safely. She gave me lots of freedom to go out with my friends. She even allowed me to sleep over at my best friend’s house when I was in Form 3.

One thing she never allowed me to do is to date before I finished school. One time, I was talking (boiling porridge) on the phone with a boy, casual chatting. She purposely called me to do things so that I will hang up. I was a good gal, never in a serious relationship during my study years.

      My University years:

She felt really sad when I had to go abroad to study. She cried. The night before, she told me that I have to be careful with the western culture. You know them being open to SEX. Maybe she was afraid I will marry a westerner. 😆 It will be real cute with mixed grandchildren, I always tease her.

      My Working Live:

She constantly makes sure I am on top of my health. Every day, she will boil soup for me to drink. Even now, whenever I return, she boiled my favorite soup, the seaweed soup (“Kuan Bo Hoi Choe”) and cook her delicious food for me. She is one good cook. I miss her cooking.

      Her most embarrassing moments:

My brother was having a little party with his church friends. My mother returns home and saw a birthday cake. She asked loudly, “Wow, whose birthday is it?” Everyone look at her. I whisper to her, “Today is your son’s birthday”. She blushed.

One time she sent me a birthday card but she forgot to sign or write her name. I didn’t know who sent it to me. For a moment, I thought I had a secret admirer. 😉 Nope, she called and asked me whether I received the unsigned card. 🙁

She is always the shield when my dad got angry with me. She was always there when I needed her. Although she never utter words of love, her actions show it all.

Mom, I really appreciated all that you have done. I will certainly follow your foot steps to pass down your love to my children.

      HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!
