    • Haircut

      October 10, 2007

Finally I have some time to go for a haircut after procrastinating for a long time. My hair is so long that it is loosing its vitamin. It is difficult for me to get a hairstylist in Penang who can speak Cantonese. Most of the time they speak hokkien. I found a few who can converse in Cantonese but I didn’t like the way they cut my hair.

To keep the story short, there is one near my place. I brought Emily along as she needed a cut too. She has no problem with sitting on a chair to have her hair cut. However she tends to look here and there when the hairstylist was cutting her hair. I instructed her to:

      Look at the mirror.
Don’t talk. *afraid hair will fall into her mouth*
      Look upwards.
      Don’t look at mummy.
      Close your eyes.

Funny thing is, when it was my turn to cut hair. She repeated the same set of instruction to me. It makes me laugh. It was a good time we had at the hair saloon and we will do that again. By the way, Timothy goes to the barber with dad and share their moments.

    • Children taste buds are developing. They may reject some food now but it doesn’t mean they will reject it forever. They need time to acquire some food. I would say be persistent in asking them to try out new food or vegetables.

Most children will not like to eat vegetables especially those with leaves. My children reject them at times but will eat them occasionally. Sometimes I will cut them up very small and mix it with their rice. If they don’t notice, it will go down to their tummy.

I remembered Emily doesn’t like broccoli. She will just take potato and carrots. Now she takes broccoli, cauliflower, potato and carrots. She loves ketchup too. Occasionally she will eat leafy vegetables. Similarly with Timothy. I think both of my children are fussy eaters.

    • Sweet Emily

      October 7, 2007

At times, Emily can be very sweet in helping me do things without asking. When she is sweet she is lovable. However if she is not, it is tough to handle. Today I was supposed to get some ice-cream for the Sunday School children. Daddy dropped me at the hypermarket while he and the children wait for me.

When I came back, Emily helped open the car door for me.

      Mummy: Thanks Emily.
Emily: I help you to open the door.
Mummy: Yes you are so sweet.
Timothy: Mummy, you cannot eat Emily. Why you say sweet Emily? :giggles:
Mummy: Emily help mummy that is why I call her sweet.
Timothy: Hehehe…mummy can eat sweet Emily.
      Daddy: Sweet also means nice.

I am not sure whether Timothy understood but his remark makes us laugh.

    • Happy Me

      October 6, 2007

I got myself an Esprit backpack for my new company notebook. It was 50% off. My previous backpack zip was broken and I have wanted to replace it. My company gave me a leather carrying case but a bit big in size. I will use that for traveling.

I don’t know about you, I feel good when I get something I really like. I haven’t had that feeling for quite a while. Hehehe…I haven’t been really shopping meaning buying stuff I need. When I go shopping, my children will tag along and I hardly can spend time to look for things. I told my hubby, one of these days I must take 1 day leave to shop by myself. It is good too if I do less shopping. It means I save money. On the other hand, I must not forget to pamper myself. That’s life.

      October 6, 2007

I have a friend who is always on the road, traveling from one place to another. Once he almost got into a semi truck accident with a reckless driver. He was frightened by the entire incident. Thank goodness neither party had any damages.

Let’s hope that none of you are face with such bad experience. If you are, you need to understand your rights. Many big truck companies have their own legal representatives. They are sent to the accident scene to confront accident victim when they are most vulnerable. Beware if you are the victim. Get your own protection with your own legal representative. Here is great website to give you more information and call US 1 866 771 7769 if you need a lawyer.

    • Parenting Tips #9: Sorry

      October 6, 2007

It’s hard to say I am sorry. Well you know the famous song. Parents must remember that parents are human and do make mistakes. If we are in the wrong, we must be ready to say “SORRY”. Saying sorry does not loose your authority but gain respect from your child. Your child will learn that it is ok to say sorry.

Today daddy asked Timothy to change his pajamas while he is in the kitchen making his milk. Daddy gave specific instruction that after both of them change, they can watch cartoon for a little while. Emily came into the kitchen and ask daddy to switch on the cartoon.

Daddy and I assumed that Timothy who was not changing his pajamas. He is always taking his sweet time to do things when instructed. Both daddy and I told Emily that if kor kor didn’t change his pajamas, there is no cartoon. Timothy was very sensitive and he was actually in the midst of changing. He came right into the kitchen naked and cried “You cannot say I am not changing my pajamas”. Opps.

Later daddy and I apologized to him and gave him big hugs & kisses. Of coz, we did switch on the cartoon for both of them.

    • My children favorite character is Mr. Bean. Someone send this to my hubby and I thought I will share it with you.

      Credits: Mr Bean

Believe me, my children just love looking at him. We even got 3 cartoon series on Mr Bean, the red, green and yellow. I guess he is love by the adult and children too. If you are sleepy after a heavy lunch, just look at the gif to wake you up. It is more healthier than coffee.

    • Girls Have Better Memory

      October 5, 2007

I have to say girls have better memory. Let me proof it here. After Emily successfully learn how to spell her name. I thought her to spell “mummy” without mind map and the next day she could remember it.

I am not trying to pressure her into learning spelling. I still think she is too young for that. No need to stress your poor kids. Just want to proof that gals have better memory. Yes we do. We remember all grudges and faults. Oh well, it is not our fault that the brains store it. Men tend to forget which is a good thing for them. It reduces the aging process. You want to age slowly, don’t hold any grudges or faults. Just let it go.

Let’s use our good memory into good use. Girls can remember birthdays, anniversaries, special days and all. Men need technology to help them. If you don’t believe, ask them to give you the dates of their best friend’s birthday. I am sure they cannot dig it out of their heads.

Who remembers what they did on the first date? I rest my case.

    • My Turn… My Turn…

      October 4, 2007

Every time Tim and Emily got back from the babysitter, Tim will help mummy to take the dirty laundry up to the laundry basket. Yeap, my babysitter no longer wants to wash their laundry. It is alright because we have a thing call washing machine.

However Emily seeing his brother does that, she wants to help. She does that all the time, whenever she sees the brother do something, she wants to fight over it. I asked Tim to let her do take the dirty laundry up. Tim was not happy but mummy told him that he can help mummy do other things.

After Emily does it a few times, she stopped. I saw the dirty laundry on the floor.

Mummy: Emily, how come the laundry is on the floor? Please can you take it up to the basket?

Emily: It is kor kor’s turn. I did it already just now yesterday.

Mummy: You said you wanted to do it.

Emily: It is kor kor’s turn. *she changed subject*

Now it ends up no one doing it. First they fight for it, later end up no one does it. Sounds familiar?

    • Timothy Rashes

      October 3, 2007

Recently Timothy got a very bad rash. Until now I have no clue where he has gotten the rash from. It could have been in school or at the babysitter’s place. I am pretty sure that it is something he ate.

He has been scratching real bad last week. We took him to the doc and she gave him some allergy medication & calamine lotion to ease the itch. He recovered but it came back again.

Now we do not allow him to eat nuts, eggs, his favorite prawns and allergy food group. Let’s hope he will fully recover from his miserable rash. He does have sensitive skin.
