Results Are Out
5 CommentsTim’s exam is over and results are out. He didn’t do well in BM and Maths. I kind of expected it because he didn’t do much revision and the exam papers are tough. He did well in paper 1 in BM but not paper 2.
Paper 2 is writing story in BM (aka karangan). If I knew karangan was in the exam, I should have prep him more. From his homework, I didn’t see any work on karangan. I am surprised it appeared in the exam paper. He has no problem in making sentences in BM. In section 2, he didn’t understand the question. He was given a choice to write a story with a title or write a story with words given or write a story with picture given. He just has no clue and left the section with 1 sentence. I wonder did the teacher explain to the class what they were supposed to do. I must check with other parents.
Next is Math, I found the paper a little difficult for Std 2 first term and the teacher didn’t teach some of the math problem in the class. Looks like the paper is ahead of their syllabus thought in class.
Example of a tough question, more like a riddle than a Math question:
Aini has 6 books. Mary has 8 books more than Aini but 7 books less than Susan. How many books does Susan have?
Guess for me, I need to prep Tim more for next revision. No stick and oranges this time around.

Ian is in Primary 1, so no BM Paper 2 (karangan) yet for this term exam. Thank God. He is weak in building sentences in BM so I think I have and must brush him up during this coming school holiday. Tension only larr.

Karl did his BM and Chinese penulisan this week. He got back his BM paper and he didn’t do well. Sigh!! I wonder why we get the pressure and are more worried than our kids.

BM, my girl’s weakest subject too. I don’t think she can write karangan at this age too.
need to start practice now.
It’s ok Tim, come again next term, am sure your smart mummy will do more prep for u. 🙂
