What’s That?
July 10, 2006Curiosity has creep into Emily. Everywhere she goes, she will point and asked me “What’s that?” After I tell her the answer, she will repeat what I said. She learns as she goes. However sometimes, she just asked to irritate me. I will simply give her an answer. When the answer is not acceptable, she will not repeat but ask again. Sigh. At times, she already knew the answer but yet want to disturb me. I will ask her back and she will answer me.
She has been talking a lot lately. Mostly spoken in English, although she understands Cantonese, Mandarin and Hokkien.
Did I tell you, she doesn’t like anyone talking bad about her? One time at my family reunion dinner in KL, I was telling my family her bad habits. She climbed up to me, on the chair and put her hand on my mouth. 😯 Everyone laughed.
Lately, I think because of school, she has been very “siew hei” (meaning edgy), if she doesn’t get her way, she will cry. Nothing can distract her from crying. She will either stand in a corner or stay on the floor and sulked. She also wants to stick to mummy most of the time. I guess this is a passing phase, I have to tolerate until she gets over it.

Emily’s First Day
July 4, 2006
Yesterday was Emily’s first day at school. I had to send her to school, as my babysitter was not in her good health condition to take care of her. She needs rest. I always have babysitters who have health problem, wonder why? One with thyroid problem, she went for an op like me, another with back pain and now this with kidney stones.
On Sunday, I prepared Emily for school. We went out to get her a pretty bag with a push handle. She loves it so much that she pushed it in around the mall. :eh: She didn’t want to let go of it until we reached home. She was all excited to follow Tim to school.
The day came, she happily sit in the car anticipating getting to school. She went into the school compound but she thought I will be joining her. Little does she know that I have to leave her there with the kor kor. Tip for parents, don’t stay if your child is crying and just leave ASAP. It will make matter worst if you do. After we left, she was back to normal. The teacher told us that she didn’t want to eat her lunch or drink milk. However, in the evening, she finished 3 biscuit and dinner.
When I picked her up, she was very happy kept telling me what she learned in school. She point to every thing that was hung in the nursery and tell me what it was. She was in a chatty mood too. Today the same episode she cried when she reached school. Now I guess she is enjoying herself. 😆

Dilemma
June 20, 2006I had an early telecon this morning and had to go to the office for it. Tim & Emily were still sleeping. I carried Emily out quietly but she woke up. She opened her sleepy eyes and saw mummy. As I was walking out the main door, she started crying. I carry her back in, she stopped. I walk out, she struggled. Back in, she stopped. :wall: If you were there, you will see me walking back and forth, while carrying her.
In my mind, I could have just let her down on the sofa and let her wake up fully. Switch on some cartoon to make her happy. However, I know when its time for her to go to the nanny, she will cry. I decided to let her cry and carried her over. When she reached the nanny, the nanny asked her to stop crying. She stopped. Sigh, how come she bullied me?! :sc: My nanny is fairly strict with her and she listens to her more than me.
I notice that she could be bored at the nanny’s place. I am still thinking whether to start her with nursery (preschool) together with her brother? At least she will have more fun in school. I know she will enjoy it. What do you think?

The Little Actress
June 13, 2006Here’s presenting Emily, the little actress. Scene 23, take 1 in Aladdin, where Jafar thought he has the lamp.
Line: Mummy It’s all Mine, Mummy It’s all Mine, Mummy It’s all Mine…
By the way, she also learns to answer this question from the cartoon, “What’s your name?” Tim thought her. Yeah yeah yeah, both of them watch too much cartoons. :naughty:

MCU II
June 6, 2006I just got back from the hospital. I just wanted to share some good news with you. Probably a birthday gift from God to her. Emily was due for a second MCU with a pass record of reflux grade 1 and UTI. History here.
Her results came out normal. She doesn’t need prolong antibiotic. Praise God! Rachel blog about the entire MCU procedure here.
She had fever before the procedure, I was afraid that the doctor may cancel it. Anyway, she went ahead. Her fever was due to sore throat and runny nose. I took her into the hospital early morning. I gave her the sedation medicine. Immediately after the medicine, she dozed off. Wow, I thought the medicine was effective. However during the procedure, she woke up. She didn’t scream although surrounded by strangers and mummy was not visible. I was not allowed into the x-ray room. I heard the officer said, she went back to sleep. Everything was done successfully as compare to last time, without sedation, she screamed so loud.
After that, she enjoyed herself in the playroom and watch all the cartoon on Astro Disney channel. The children wad change so much, definitely more children friendly.
Oh well, definitely a hectic week for me. 3rd mission is coming up. Sigh. Life is filled with so many exciting things with children.

Birthday Weekend
June 5, 2006It was Emily’s birthday on Sunday as well as mine. As mentioned before, she wanted a Tigger cake. The cakes store I went to, do not have any Tigger cake. I printed the face of Tigger and ask one of the cake house to custom make. This is what I printed:
And I got this, not bad eh…. :good:
Here is where Emily enjoyed her cake:
After which I brought both my children to enjoy nature, to the Penang Beach. Let me whine about the hotel. The hotel ran out of towels, could you believe that? Secondly there were so many children, that the children pool was filled with dirt. Some children were not even in their swimming suit. There was no control over the children pool. Thirdly, the staffs weren’t very friendly. Fourthly the condition of the hotel is poorly maintained. I probably will not go back there again.
Beside that, children had fun. Started with a welcome drink:
Proceed to have fun with the sand:
Mummy enjoying the seaview:
The banana boat:
Fun in the room:

Night Routine
May 29, 2006I will make both my children milk before they sleep, just like having supper. Sometimes they have a little snack. Emily will drink from the bottle by herself and Tim from his cup with a straw. There will be cartoon accompany them while mummy rest in the study room.
Often, after Emily finished, she will leave her bottle on the floor. I will call her to put the bottle into the sink, and tell Tim to hurry with his milk. I had been repeating it daily until it gets program in them. Today, Emily came by my study room door and said “Put the bottle in the sink, ok?”. She walked to the sink and place the bottle there. After she did that, she shouted, “Kor Kor hurry up with your milk?” in Cantonese. 😆 Wow I have a new assistance. Now when will she be able to make milk…*start dreaming*.
After that, I will send both of them to the room, give them each a toothbrush and they brushed their teeth. I have to help Emily a bit as she does it very quickly. We will say a little prayer, sometimes Tim will say and Emily say Amen at the end. We greet each other goodnite. Lights out. Mummy goes down and has some peace.

Parents Have Little Say
May 27, 2006Today I decided to cook lunch for them and take them shopping after their nap. They got pretty excited when I said I am going to buy them Mickey Mouse and Tigger tees.
Emily started to pick what clothes she wants to where. She will be very happy if she gets to wear the one she picks. Now she goes for all the cartoon characters, Pooh, Tigger, Mickey, Popeye, Mermaid, etc…Oh she told me that she wants a Tigger birthday cake. Daddy did you hear that?
Today during dinner, I wanted to reward them with some ice cream and pick somewhere that serve ice cream. Tim saw Sushi King and kept pulling me in that direction. He loves the Edamame. I told him, Sushi King doesn’t serve ice cream. He still wanted to go there. He didn’t allow me to enter any other restaurant. It was so funny, the waiter from Nandos came out to ask us “How many persons?” Tim shouted “Sushi King”. The waiter got a shock. 😯 Oh well, Tim won, we ate in Sushi King.
Later we went to a free indoor playground and ToysRus. They had fun playing. Both slept on the way home. I had the pleasure of listening to the radio and taking a cruise on the road. The radio was playing good songs. I love doing that and miss doing it. I used to do that in KL. It brings back lots of memories.
Oh, I watched the downloaded American Idol when my children had their nap. It was great and without any commercials! I love the part when they showed the impersonator of Clay Aiken, Michael Sandecki receiving the award and sang. Then the charming Clay Aiken came out from behind and sang together with him. Michael had the shock of his life. It was so touching as I can see in Michael’s eyes, it is really a dream come true to be singing with Clay himself. Of coz the Puck & Pickler was so funny. :giggles: Katherine McPhee sang very well with Meatloaf, “It’s all coming back to me now..” Overall both guys and gals groups gave a brilliant performance.
The not so good part was, not sure whether it was my ear or what. I couldn’t hear what Toni Braxton was singing. The singer who sang with Elliot Yamin was taking over the performance. :sc: Actually I love the finale better than the day before where the final 2 perform.

Best Medicine In The World
May 26, 2006Yesterday, I am not feeling too well, have been loosing a lot of blood. Everytime I stand up, I feel dizzy. Hands shaking and body aching. I got ½ day MC from my company’s doctor.
I went back home to snooze. When I woke up, it was time to pick Tim and Emily back. I took a shower and pick both of them. I told them, they have to be good boy and good gal as mummy is not feeling well. Pretending to be crying and asked “You sayang mummy or not?”
Emily came with a cheekiest smile, the sweetest smile I ever seen. If I had a camera in my hand, I would have captured that. She came very close to me and I don’t have a clue what she was about to do. That’s the moment that make me felt good, better than any medicine in the world. She planted a kiss on my cheek. :giggles: When Tim saw that, he did the same on the other cheek.
Later, I send them all to bed by 8:30pm. No joke. I had to miss the finale of Americal Idol. 😥 Fortunately I can download it today.

Swirls
May 10, 2006After reading twinmom’s blog on ZiHeng’s head. I immediately to look at Emily’s head, I already knew Tim has a swirl. Hers is so special, it has branches. Anyone know what hers mean? :sc: MIL told me once before if got more spirals meaning very naughty and difficult to discipline. My nephew has 2. Some folk tales said that if it swirl in certain direction, it can determine the next child’s gender. Branches telling me to STOP. 😆
