      Blessed Mother’s Day To You….

Last week was a busy week for me preparing Mother’s Day Special for children in Sunday School. I am glad today seeing so many children bought their mother for the special event. Thank God for so much he has given for this special day.

We started to have fun having mom and child game, one of it was asking the child to feed his/her mom dragon fruit. It was so much fun. Well tables are turn in this game because we wanted the child to feel how easy or difficult to feed their mom. Especially moms who do not like dragon fuit. The children and moms had fun!

We also had a good Godly Motherly message by Teacher Laura. Last we ended with a craft the child does for their moms. They had to make a Mother’s Day card and a potpourri bag. They had fun!

One most important thing I learnt was seeing how God continuously provide and his faithfulness never fails. When I was in doubt, not knowing how many children or mothers will turn up. When I needed help and was afraid I run out of time. It was really a stressful week for me but it was so worth it to make so many mothers hear the Godly message and the child learning how much his/her mom cares for them.

On another note, while my family and I was eating lunch, my hubby felt a tremor which I didn’t. I told him maybe too many people were walking around. Well later I checked, there was an earthquake in Aceh which Penang got the aftershock. Some felt shaking at their condo and car park. I missed for the 3rd time, not feeling anything. Once in the church, second in my office and today at Old Town café.

    • One night I was sleeping next to Emily because she just recovered from fever. I really got a scare from her. I am a late owl and I slept around 2am. She was snoring away and had no fever.

Suddenly she got up sitting on the bed. I thought she woke up. She started talking to me. I was not sure what she was saying. She was smiling too. Wah! I was freaking out because she was sleep talking with eyes open.

Slowly I made her lie back down and told her it is only a dream. Pat her lightly on her butt. She went back to snoring again. Wow that was quite an experience. I still don’t know what it was.

Was that similar to sleep walking without the walk? I hope that does not happen again.

    • Labor Day

      May 5, 2010

Early in the morning, my children wanted to go to the park to play football with their favorite cousin. I had to wake up early, so much for sleeping in. Thank goodness, I have Monday off as a replacement holiday. I also had my favorite McD pan cake and my hot cup of tea. Timothy was having cough so no cold drinks for him and he wanted to share my hot tea. I should have gotten another cup for him. He just passed me his germs and I got sore throat.

We went to Youth Park. Tim had everyone in a team to play football. He named the teams “Rambutan” and “Mangoesteen”. The weather was nice, not too hot. After the game of football, they wanted to go to the park swimming pool. More like a play pool. Both cannot wait to jump in. Tim was coughing really badly so I didn’t let him play long in the pool. Ended up, I need to give him a course of nebulizer. Yeap we owned a nebulizer that can vaporize the medicine with a mask for him to breathe in.

He was feeling fine after that. However I caught his bug. Emily started to get sick the next day with cough. I tell you both were as active as ever and refuse to rest on Sat & Sun.

For my sore throat, I were plucking my basil plant and eating the basil leaves. It helps to sooth my throat. The next day, my sore throat was gone and my runny nose begun.

Monday was not a rest day for me either because Emily decided to have her fever in the middle of the night, so I had to sponge her. It was a mild fever.
I am glad today, both of them recover but I still have my runny nose. So much for my public holiday. I am looking forward to my next public holiday, Wesak Day.

    • Subway For Emily

      May 2, 2010

Yesterday I just introduced Subway to Emily. She was excited when I told her it was a vegetables burger. Today special was seafood sub which is also one of my favorites. After her first bite, she said “Mummy this burger is too big for me…” She ate about 4 inches of it, that was pretty good.

I always like to eat Subway. I guess the only food here that has lots of vegetables. It is pretty nutritious too. After taking this, I don’t think I need any fat burner pills. I am glad they open one Subway in Queensbay mall. I don’t need to drive to Egate to get my sub.

      They play together…
      They fight together…
      They hug each other…
      They argued together…

Now they sit on one chair and do homework together. Lovely…

      April 28, 2010

Emily was bored and she kept disturbing me while I was busy doing my work. She told me to give her homework. Maybe I should send her to Chinese school since she loves homework so much. Nah, I still want her to have a life and not homework all the time.

Anyway, I asked her to take out the comics books that I recently bought for her and Tim. Inside, there is a section on exercise for Std 1, 2 & 3. I asked her to do the Std 1 exercise.

She was happy and sat quietly doing it. After 10 minutes, she showed me. Look! The part B.

Believed me no one has taught her how to do that, not even in Kindy. I found it hard to teach that to Tim last time and she mastered it on her own. I think she got Math gens in her.

    • Tim saw the Petronas Twin Tower 3D Puzzle and he wants to build it. We were in the toy shop and he kept looking at it. Even after we walk out of the shop, he asked me to get for him. Well I thought it will be good fun to build this with him.

I bought it for him. He was excited and asked me to open it immediately. He saw and he looked at me because he didn’t have a clue how to put it together. The box said 6+ but adult like me found it difficult. Ooh the instruction paper was only 2 pages, front and back. Tat’s all.

Tim helped me to tear the parts I needed and make holes on some of them with a given tool. But mummy finished this puzzle for him. He woke up and was happy to see it done. He asked me to bring him up there again.

I woke up and I saw this. I believed my hubby build this for Tim. He was very happy with it until everything started to fall off.

Actually papa built the top part and Tim put in on the stool. He called out to me and said “Mummy, look now my robot has legs! He will guard the kitchen.” Talk about creativity.

    • Educational Comics

      April 23, 2010

I have been searching for education magazine for Tim. I used to read Dewan Pelajar when I was young. I like the comics and puzzle in the magazine. I picked up new BM vocabulary from it too. However I don’t seem to find it anywhere.

I was glad I read this post by InspiredMomx1 titled Magazine For Primary School. I surf the comic online store and found a couple of comics I liked for my children.

I ordered Young Scientist, English Garden and Mingguan Didikku for Std1-3. The package arrived yesterday. My children were thrilled seeing those comics. The online shop is www.leebook.com.my. It has Chinese educational comics too.

What so good about this comic? It is written according to the school syllabus. At the end of the comic, there are some simple exercises for the children. It is a great way for the children to get interested in learning. My boy is a visual learner, he learns as he sees. He loves the comics and so does Emily.

They sat quietly for 1 hour just reading these comics. Thanks to InspiredMomx1 for her post!

Young Scientist – RM5 per copy
Mingguan Didiku – 60 sen per copy
English Garden – 60 sen per copy.

    • Soft VOIP Phone Tester

      April 22, 2010

I had installed my soft VOIP phone on my notebook. Now I can answer calls from my office at home and I can dial work numbers free of charge.

I didn’t test it after I installed it. One day, I was on a conference and halfway through the conference, I found out the microphone didn’t work. Bumma!

I cannot really test it by calling someone without knowing the microphone work or not. I configure the microphone and looks like it is working. I asked my son, Tim to help me. I gave him the house phone and ask him to pick up the call when it rings. He agreed.

      Ringgggg….ringgggg

Tim: Hello *he was upstairs with the phone*

      Mummy: Hello

      Tim: Hello…hello

      Mummy: What is 1+1

      Tim: 1+1, issit?

      Mummy: Yeah 1+1

      Tim: 2…ok I don’t wanna play.

      Mummy: Bye

      Tim: Bye :giggles:

My little helper just confirm that my microphone works.
