How many hours do you sleep now, especially after having children? Not many I presumed.

Previously when I was single, when I had all the time in the world, I used to sleep in especially during the weekends. I can wake up like in the afternoon. I used to sleep a lot! In fact I love sleeping, it is one of my favorite past time. I was also a vampire, like to keep awake at night, because of the quietness of the night. I used to burn a lot of midnight oil, studying, doing homework, surfing on Internet and watching TVB series and etc, until 3-4 am. I remembered when I had to do my final thesis for final term in University I stayed up until 7am to complete it. I can stayed awake for more than 24 hours and I can sleep through for 24 hours. I guess average I slept 10-12 hours a day and at least a 2-3 hours nap.

With children, I can do that no more.. Especially when Tim was born, he was a demanding baby. He didn’t sleep well, he wakes up at least 3 times at night. When he wakes up in the morning, I have to wake up. No more sleeping in! When he arrived, my sleeping routine was overturned. I have to follow his sleeping pattern. He drove me nuts, at 1 point in time, I almost said to myself “1 kid is enough!!” Thank God, by the age of 2, he slept through the night. Tim trained me to sleep less or maybe I was growing old that I do not need so many hours of sleep. Average I slept 6 hours per day and only 30min to 1 hour nap during the weekend. Emily was a sleeper like me and she didn’t give me much problem.

Both of them is well trained, sleep early so that I can go back to staying late nights. They sleep by 9-10pm. I have 2-3 hours to enjoy. Often they have 1 nap during the weekends for 2-3 hours, and I will take the opportunity there to nap too. Average now I sleep 8 hours a day. However I still miss sleeping in on Saturday till noon.

    1. I am totally opposite with you. I found sleeping is a waste of time, and 6-8 hrs is enough for me. I seldom or rather never sleep beyond 9am. 🙂

Anyhow, my biological clock will wake me up in the morning if I’ve got enough sleep. And thus I always wondering how peoples can sleep till afternoon.

My hubby is same like you, a night owl and doesn’t want to wake up in the morning and make me want to kick his ass! 😛

    2. hehe I love sleeping too..especially when u are pregnant. But when I wasn’t married, I tried not to take naps, cause I find that if I do so, I’ll waste the whole noon doing nothing but sleep haha…..same like Jeffrene

    3. *boohoohoo* you remind me of those good sleeping old day.

anyway I shall not complain, I still can nap with the girls in the afternoon if I want, but the blogsphere is calling me … so… cannot complain.

Jefferene: Hey my hubby is like you. Sleep early and rise up early. He also complained about me like you. 😆

Jazzmint: When I was pregnant, I sleep alot too!

Maria: Sorry to bring up your memories on your good old days too! 😛

Jess: Good to know, you and me are the same kind.

      miche: Same here.

    7. AAah.. I love sleeping too.. Had to sleep 8 to 10hrs only happy.

I was going into depression when Zara was born and I couldn’t rest much, especially right after giving birth.. I almost blamed her for ruining my life. Then hubby helped with night feed, so I could get a longer stretch of sleep, and when she was sleeping during the day, I followed her and took naps too.. that help.

Now, I’m used to it already. I sleep 2, 3hrs after she has gone to bed, to catch up on reading, blogging, and do my own things.. And then just sleep for 6 to 7hrs and it’s good enough.. She help cured me from my LOVE-TO-SLEEP sickness. 😛
