Hot Argument
12 CommentsWhile I was at the bank depositing my children’s angpow money, 2 people created a heated scene. Yes, the money is safer in the bank than in my house. There was a heated argument between the bank officer and a lady customer. I was standing 2 counters away from them. Anyway, their voices were so loud that every single soul in the bank can hear them.
Bank Officer: You want to pay or not?
Lady: I want to pay.
Bank Officer: What do you want to pay?
Lady: Pay all.
Bank Officer: Not enough cash.
Lady: I want to pay for my car loan.
Bank Officer: Just now you said pay all.
Lady: I want to pay for my car loan. *furious*
Bank Officer: You want to pay or not? *shouting – beh syiok*
Lady: Is this the way you treat your customer? I am your customer, why you are shouting at me? *shouting*
Bank Officer: When I asked you what you want to pay, you said you pay all. Now you said you want to pay for car loan. You don’t know what you want. *everyone is looking*
Bank Manager: *approaching bank officer whispering something to bank officer*
Lady: Is this how the bank treats your customer, you watch out?
Bank Officer: Ohh, you going to beat me up?
Lady: You just watch out.Bank officer still repeating himself loudly, probably want to get attention from the crowd and complete the transaction. Lady was furious, took the receipt and storm out, face all red. The boyfriend (*my assumption*) was cool as if nothing happen.
If I was the bank manager, I probably ask the bank officer to take a 5 minute break and service the lady. It is better solution than to have everyone looking at the heated argument. It must be the hot weather that makes them heat up.
By the way, the bank officer served me before, when I wanted to deposit a cheque to my gal’s account. He asked me why I don’t use the ATM machines. I told him, the account has no ATM card. I asked him for angpow packets, he said all finished. However, I smile I told him that I saw him giving another old lady more than 5 packets of angpow. Later then he gave me a few packets. He really has a weird attitude.

This isn’t good customer service. Banking industry is all about customer service. This officer needs to be re-trained..either that he needs anger mgmt.

Such unacceptable attitude! And the bank manager sucks as well for not taking the matter into his hands. It’s clear he didn’t reprimand the bank officer as the latter still continue to shout at a customer. If it’s me, I’d file a complaint on the spot, need to show the officer that he can’t do that AND get away with it. Unless filinf a complain also useless and no action taken la, then nothing I can say lor.

Shud write to bank negara instead of complaint to the branch manager, as the branch manager also dun bother!!

Attitude like this cannot sit in the counter leh. Make bad image for bank. Some more bank manager dont reprimand him for his actions ah?

wah! very bad leh… i wonder which bank it is. I think probably the best is to just go and file a complaint to the bank main branch. If the manager of that branch is already not taking any action, i doubt that the complaint directly to the bank will take any effect.

Jess, Julian: Looking at the manager, I think he is a soft spoken guy.
Zara’s mama, Sue, Chooi Peng, Duckie: I am just a passer-by so cannot really file a complaint. Looking at the lady, I think she will do that.
Vien, Jazz: I think a lot of customer service people here need re-training. However on the other hand, being a customer service person is not easy, coz there are lots of irrational demanding people.

I used to work in a bank and this is really unacceptable behaviour. I would write directly to the CEO and complain. How dare he shout at the customer?
