    • Happy Children’s Day

      November 13, 2007

Tim’s school is celebrating Children’s day today. The Universal Children’s Day is on November 20th. Get your presents ready for your children. 7 days to go get one if you don’t have one.

I got a cake for Tim’s school to celebrate Children’s Day. I guess the school celebrated earlier because next week will be school holiday. Tim thought it was his birthday just because I bought the cake to school. He told me that the children blow his candles and he wanted me to buy him a present.

I told him that today is not his birthday. He still does not know how the calendar works yet. However I did get him and Emily some ice-cream. He was satisfied but he was hoping I get him Ultraman DVD or an Ultraman toy.

    • Parenting Tip #15 Stroller

      November 12, 2007

Stroller is a greatest invention for parents, if not at least for me. I trained my children from baby to sit in a stroller. In most case, they will sit in the stroller for a short period of time and later they will want to come up. The trick is when they want to get up, I will attract them with stuff like food or toys to keep them for another 30 minutes or so. After a while, they sit in the stroller throughout. I got to a point where Tim and Emily fight for the stroller.

With stroller, I can take 2 children to shopping on my own. Tim usually walks and Emily sits on the stroller. I don’t have a maid to escort me to shopping. If I carry Emily, I can only walk for 10 minutes and I feel tired. I rather not shop.

I feel more secure with Emily on the stroller. I am always afraid of children running around the crowded mall. They may bump into something or get lost. If they want to run, best to do it in the park.

By the way, with stroller I can shop with Emily for hours and hours. If she gets tired, she sleeps in it.

    • Chicken Pork

      November 9, 2007

Mummy: What do you want to eat for lunch?
Emily: I want fries on tomato sauce.
Mummy: You cannot always eat fries, later you get cough.
Emily: I want to eat chicken pork
      Mummy: Chicken pork?? :giggles:
      Emily: Yes Chicken pork.

      *****###*****

      Emily displayed her cunningness:

Grandpa bought some junk food crackers for Tim and Emily after dinner. Tim and Emily showed me.

Tim & Emily: Mummy, we got crackers. *big smiles on their face*
Mummy: Later papa sees, he will scold.
Emily: Faster hide, don’t let papa see. *she took out a packet and hide behind her back. Tim followed her.*
      Mummy: *roll eyes*

    • Bee Movie

      November 8, 2007

My children wanted to watch Bee Movie. They saw it advertised when we watched Ratatouille. It opened yesterday and since today was a holiday, I decided to bring them there.

On the whole, it was great with a good story plot. It started with the story of how bee makes honey in the hive and what do bees do in their life cycle. Barry the main character graduated from University to start his new job in the honey factory. However he was not happy as the rule says whatever position he choose, he will do it for life. He wanted to venture out into the real world, which he did. Lots of exciting thing happen to him and he made the world turn upside down.

I guess the story plot was a little too deep for my children to grasp. However they enjoyed the animated characters. Emily loves Adam, Barry’s good friend. Timothy like the mosquito called Mooseblood. There is one little error as Mooseblood is a male mosquito and male mosquito does not suck blood.

Go watch it, it is another good animated story for children. It is written by Jerry Seinfeld.

    • Little Kungfu Master

      November 7, 2007

Emily was fooling around showing me that she can do kungfu. So I took the camera while she did her action. Actually she learned it from Mr. Ultraman.

After hearing so many tragic cases with children, I may think of letting her learn some kungfu or self defense. Who knows, she may be the next bond lady. :giggles:

    • Childhood Chocolate

      November 6, 2007

How many of you have tasted Kandos when you are young? I remembered that I used to buy Kandos choc in school. I was a junk eater and not really interested in eating rice. I remembered my mother took me to the doc asking him to prescribe something to increase my appetite. Guess what he gave? He gave me supplements instead. He said I can get the necessary nutrition from there.

Last week, I went grocery shopping, I found Kandos. Yummy. The taste is still the same. Wow after 30 years, I can still remember the taste. It is one of my childhood memories. Kandos anyone?

    • Disney Magic Show

      November 5, 2007

We rushed to PISA for the Disney Magic Show after Tim’s concert. When I bought the tickets, Tim’s concert schedule was not out. It was really a coincident that both were happened on the same day with 2 hours apart.

The Disney Magic Show was great with Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Alice, Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Eric, Gus and Jaq. There were 2 other magicians called Brad and Benny. It is a stage performance with singing, dancing and interaction with the audience. My children just love it. They went home telling me the details of what they seen.

As usual there were a lot of Disney merchandize for sale. I got my 2 children a wizard hat, hey it was the cheapest of them all. It came with a big bag of cotton candy. My hubby didn’t allowed them to eat too much of it. Mummy had to wallop it all. One more bag to go and I hope my sugar level will not hit the roof.

They don’t allow us to take pictures and were pretty strict. The ushers were looking around. We took a few shots of it before we were told not to.

    • Cool Performance

      November 5, 2007

Saturday was a busy day for me. First we started the day early at 7:30am and help Timothy look smart. He was giving a performance at his school concert. I guess every parent is excited about her child’s concert. By the number of cameras pointing at the stage, you will know. Parents were anxious about taking every shot of their child.

As for Timothy, as usual he needed time to warm up. He took the stage away in another sense because he was so cool standing there without moving. I bet everyone is looking at him. Later when he got warm up, he started giving a very cool performance. I am so proud of him.

    • Warming Up

      October 31, 2007

Yesterday I took Timothy to do a little shopping after his school during my lunch time. My colleague wanted to tag along. I picked my son up and he was seated at the back. He was tremendously shy. First he took the newspaper to cover his face. My friend told me he then opened his bag and put his head inside. After that, he moved towards the door and look at the window.

Later when we got to the shopping mall, he started to be very chatty and got acquainted with my friend. It took him a little while to get warmed up. Once he started, he couldn’t stop yakking away. Let’s hope he will take away his shyness and be more sociable.

    • Parenting Tip #14 Sharing

      October 30, 2007

As I passed through toys stores, this generation children have good life or pampered should I say? They are so many different types of toys out there for them to choose from. Often I am asked, hey you got two children, do you buy 2 of the same toys? I used to do that but it is better for me to teach my children to share.

Yeah it is a challenge because I have tough children. Each child has this illusion thinking that all toys that mummy buys belongs to him or her. Try and break the illusion, you will be faced with a scream or a loud cried.

I used the 5 minutes rule. Each gets to play 5 minutes of the toy and pass to the other person. He plays 5 minutes and she plays 5 minutes. Each takes his or her 5 minutes turn. If they fight for the same toy, often I will take the toy away.

I am glad I have 2, if I have 5 or more, I cannot be buying 5 of the same toy. Best way is to teach your children to share.
