      Emily: Mummy what’s this?
Mummy: A letter to Smith Barney
Emily: I want to send letter to Barney.
Mummy: Ok, we go to the post office to get stamp for you to send letter to Barney.

I took Emily to the post office, wanting to teach her to get stamps and how to post the letter. However the post office didn’t open on Saturday.

Emily: When can I send letter to Barney and Baby Bop?
Mummy: The letter is only to Barney.
Emily: Mummy, I want to send letter to Barney.

I had to go to the post office on Monday to get stamps for the letter. I let her go to the mail box and post it. She was really happy. Anyone knows the address to real Barney? I am sure she will be thrill if Barney returns her mail. :giggles:

    • Chicken Pork

      November 9, 2007

Mummy: What do you want to eat for lunch?
Emily: I want fries on tomato sauce.
Mummy: You cannot always eat fries, later you get cough.
Emily: I want to eat chicken pork
      Mummy: Chicken pork?? :giggles:
      Emily: Yes Chicken pork.

      *****###*****

      Emily displayed her cunningness:

Grandpa bought some junk food crackers for Tim and Emily after dinner. Tim and Emily showed me.

Tim & Emily: Mummy, we got crackers. *big smiles on their face*
Mummy: Later papa sees, he will scold.
Emily: Faster hide, don’t let papa see. *she took out a packet and hide behind her back. Tim followed her.*
      Mummy: *roll eyes*

    • Little Kungfu Master

      November 7, 2007

Emily was fooling around showing me that she can do kungfu. So I took the camera while she did her action. Actually she learned it from Mr. Ultraman.

After hearing so many tragic cases with children, I may think of letting her learn some kungfu or self defense. Who knows, she may be the next bond lady. :giggles:

    • Today, it is Emily’s turn to take up the laundry again. She was going upstairs while I was downstairs.

Emily: Mummy where is the basket?
Mummy: It is in the ironing room.
      Emily: I cannot find it.
      Mummy: Try the other rooms.
Emily: It is in papa bedroom. Why did you say in the ironing room?
      Mummy: Sorry, mummy forgot.

She came down and hunted me down.

Emily: The basket is not in the ironing room mah.
      Mummy: Sorry, sorry.
Emily: It is in papa room.
      Mummy: Sorry, sorry
Emily: Why you say in the ironing room.
Mummy: Sorry ah, next time I say in papa’s room. 😛

Sigh, mummy got shot at for not remembering where the laundry basket is. I can never win when they are right. Don’t even try it. :giggles:

    • Haircut

      October 10, 2007

Finally I have some time to go for a haircut after procrastinating for a long time. My hair is so long that it is loosing its vitamin. It is difficult for me to get a hairstylist in Penang who can speak Cantonese. Most of the time they speak hokkien. I found a few who can converse in Cantonese but I didn’t like the way they cut my hair.

To keep the story short, there is one near my place. I brought Emily along as she needed a cut too. She has no problem with sitting on a chair to have her hair cut. However she tends to look here and there when the hairstylist was cutting her hair. I instructed her to:

      Look at the mirror.
Don’t talk. *afraid hair will fall into her mouth*
      Look upwards.
      Don’t look at mummy.
      Close your eyes.

Funny thing is, when it was my turn to cut hair. She repeated the same set of instruction to me. It makes me laugh. It was a good time we had at the hair saloon and we will do that again. By the way, Timothy goes to the barber with dad and share their moments.

    • Girls Have Better Memory

      October 5, 2007

I have to say girls have better memory. Let me proof it here. After Emily successfully learn how to spell her name. I thought her to spell “mummy” without mind map and the next day she could remember it.

I am not trying to pressure her into learning spelling. I still think she is too young for that. No need to stress your poor kids. Just want to proof that gals have better memory. Yes we do. We remember all grudges and faults. Oh well, it is not our fault that the brains store it. Men tend to forget which is a good thing for them. It reduces the aging process. You want to age slowly, don’t hold any grudges or faults. Just let it go.

Let’s use our good memory into good use. Girls can remember birthdays, anniversaries, special days and all. Men need technology to help them. If you don’t believe, ask them to give you the dates of their best friend’s birthday. I am sure they cannot dig it out of their heads.

Who remembers what they did on the first date? I rest my case.

    • Practical Emily

      October 1, 2007

You know how the Flintstones family used the natural things for household or personal stuff. Pebbles Flintstones uses a bone to tie the hair. Look what Emily uses for her hair. It is not a bone but some stationary. Don’t look at me, I didn’t teach her that. I wonder what she will do next, she surprises me everyday.

P/S: Emily told me that papa thought her to use the clip for her hair.

Finally Emily learns how to spell her name. It is not that I want to teach her spelling so early but she constantly asked me how to spell her name. After repeating many times, I decided to teach her. I did the first 2 letters with her but my hubby beats me to it.

Hubby thought her mind mapping, something he picked up during his training to improve his memory. Mind mapping is a technique very good for students studying for exams. It uses key words and images on paper to help one remember. You can add colors to it to enhance memory. How does Emily mind map look like, here ya go.

Bottom line she is able to spell her name now. Bravo to papa!

    • Who Is The Handsome Man?

      September 29, 2007

Hubby went for a hair cut today. Emily came home from babysitter and saw his daddy. Immediately she said “Wow, Handsome Man”. Hey she stole my lines. She made daddy so happy.

Later she told me that she wanted a hair cut with me. I was wanted to cut my hair because it is really long. I always postponed it because every time I want to go cut, something pops up. Emily wants to cut hair with me. She wants to sit next to me.

I am glad that both my children can go to the saloon and cut hair without any problem. Timothy goes to the barber and it only cost RM5. Emily didn’t have a hair cut for a long time in the saloon. Most of the time, my babysitter or I cut for her. I will bring her to cut next week. Keeping my finger crossed.

    • Colorful Hippo

      September 24, 2007

Emily has improved her coloring. Often she can hardly complete her coloring piece. She will color bits and pieces here and there but never complete a single piece. Today she finally did complete the picture of the hippo without help.

I find that oil pastel crayons are better for teaching a child how to color. With color pencil, the child has difficulty learning to color the entire picture without seeing any uncolored spots. I guess it is the way they hold their color pencils. Often before finishing the area, the pencil gets blunt. With pastel crayon, the crayon covers a wider area.

Oh well, not sure where Emily got the idea that the Hippo head is pink. :giggles:
