    • Blog Database Gone

      March 22, 2010

Thanks to my itchy hand, I accidentally deleted my blog database. Panic!!! What was I doing? You see I saw an error message this morning on my blog. I logged a ticket to the web host. They were pretty fast in fixing it. I did a Google on the error message. It looks like my wordpress version is ancient and not supported by the latest PHP version. I wanted to upgrade my wordpress.

Of coz, I ran a backup on my blog. I saw a couple of test blogs that I created and so I do some housekeeping. Without realizing one of the test blog is pointed to my current blog database. Wah lah, the blog database vanished into thin air.

      Cry! Next Think!

First thing, I log a ticket to my web host again to ask them to restore my database backup. I am glad they did backup. Of coz it is not the current backup. They were pretty fast in recovering my database. For the cost I pay, only US$10 per year, they are pretty good.

10 posts were missing from my blog! I have all my ads post in a word document, so only 3 posts I need to find.

Next, I look at my Google reader, managed to get 1 post. Yeah Google reader doesn’t like my blog. I am not sure why Google only cache some of my posts.

      Calling for Help!

I IM my favorite bloggers to check their feeder. Thanks to Sue who managed to retrieve 1 more post for me titled “Burned!”

      One More Missing!

I search hi and lo. I went through all the search engine cache. Guess where I found my “hiking” post? Thanks to a search engine called http://gigablast.com/ , I managed to get my last post there.

If you ever lost your blog, let me know.

    • Hiking

      March 22, 2010

Today I took my children to hike up the Bukit Jambul hill. It is a tough hill to climb. Before having any children, I always go up with my hubby after work. It is a good workout after conquering the hill. The path was easier then. Now it looks difficult, I believed some of the pathway has eroded.

The children were very excited at first. The climbing up for us took a long time as I need to guide Emily up every step. It was a long way up and down. They were happy when we got to the top. We could enjoy the breeze and the view. The nice view was block by some big trees. Sigh, I was hoping to sip some ginger tea but none avail.

They also got some exercise equipments up there. I wonder how they managed to carry all the way up there.

The difficult part was getting down, some parts were slippery. I had to help Emily to take baby steps down. To add to the difficulty, it was getting dark. Emily could not see the pathway. However we managed to get down safely. We were the last family to get down. It was really an achievement for us. It took us 2 hours in total to go up and down.

We asked the children if they want to do it again, they loudly jeered “NO”. My hubby and I enjoyed it. We need to KIV this until the next holiday.

    • One More Day

      March 12, 2010

School Holiday is here after one more day at school. I guess it started after exams are over for the children. I bet some already were given holiday homework to do. The school break is only 1 week. Not much we can do.

By the way, 2 of my kids’ birthday fall at the start of the holiday. Timothy’s birthday will be on Sunday. He already asked for his present. Not a toy? But a pool party. Guess where? I am not going to throw any big party but invited my nephew and my niece to a pool party. I will blog more when I have the pictures next.

I am still trying to think what to do for the rest of the holidays? Maybe I will take them to do some craft at the craft center.

      Tim says “School’s Out!”

    • Scary World Out There

      March 11, 2010

Lately there are a lot of tragic cases happenings surrounding children. One almost kidnapped cases, a few fire cases and yesterday “Man Armed With Hammer Assaults Pre-School Children”. My heart dropped when I saw this news on the TV last night. I pray that the injured children will recover from physical injury as well as getting over the traumatic experience.

If you are sending your children to pre-school, do your child a favor. Ensure that the principal locked the premises gate or door. Safety must come first. I heard of some school is now thinking of getting security guard for the school.

I constantly pray for my children protection that nothing bad will happen to them.

    • Meet The Teachers

      March 5, 2010

Well I said I had to feedback to the teacher about the exam paper not in line with the syllabus taught in class. I had to see more than 1 teacher because Tim has different teacher for different subjects.

I met the English teacher, she was a nice lady. She told me that she took over the class only 3 weeks ago. She did prep the class what to expect in the exams. Obviously my boy was in lala land and didn’t tell me. I believed her. In the English paper, Tim wrote this for making sentence:

      Mrs. Leong wears cheongsam.

She didn’t give him any marks at first. My opinion should be given some marks although she was looking for

Mrs. Leong is wearing a cheongsam.

I believe both are equally correct grammatically. Finally she did give him marks for that. Let me know if I am wrong…

Next was the Maths teacher, she approached me. She told me the teacher who set the Math paper was from another school. The new teacher had a different expectation. I told her the exam was to test whether the student learn things taught in the classroom. Maybe the school expects us to send our children to tuition. Then again, if we do that what is the school for?

I have yet to meet with the BM teacher. Oh by the way, the BM teacher is also the new teacher who sets the Math’s question. This is one of the questions for BM paper for Std 2:

“Pada cuti yang lepas, anda dan keluarga telah melancong ke Pulau Langkawi. Ceritakan pengalaman anda.” (Tidak kurang daripada 60 patah perkataan)

Generally I heard most of the students didn’t do well for this term. I also heard that apparently one girl scored all hundred. Guess what? She is the daughter of one of the class teacher. Next is, one class was prep by the teacher and did an exercise on one of the BM question. The rest of the other classes were left out. The news I got from kepoh-ing with some of the parents.

    • Results Are Out

      March 4, 2010

Tim’s exam is over and results are out. He didn’t do well in BM and Maths. I kind of expected it because he didn’t do much revision and the exam papers are tough. He did well in paper 1 in BM but not paper 2.

Paper 2 is writing story in BM (aka karangan). If I knew karangan was in the exam, I should have prep him more. From his homework, I didn’t see any work on karangan. I am surprised it appeared in the exam paper. He has no problem in making sentences in BM. In section 2, he didn’t understand the question. He was given a choice to write a story with a title or write a story with words given or write a story with picture given. He just has no clue and left the section with 1 sentence. I wonder did the teacher explain to the class what they were supposed to do. I must check with other parents.

Next is Math, I found the paper a little difficult for Std 2 first term and the teacher didn’t teach some of the math problem in the class. Looks like the paper is ahead of their syllabus thought in class.

Example of a tough question, more like a riddle than a Math question:

Aini has 6 books. Mary has 8 books more than Aini but 7 books less than Susan. How many books does Susan have?

Guess for me, I need to prep Tim more for next revision. No stick and oranges this time around.

    • Tent Lover

      March 1, 2010

My gal loves to sleep in the tent which is why I bought her a nice tent from US. She sleeps in it very often. She even put it on her bed and squeezed to sleep in it. She has long legs, obviously you will see her legs sticking out the door of the tent. I got this tent from amazon.com and it is really pretty. It is easy to keep, all you have to do is fold it back.

Of coz, when I am away on business trip, papa will set up a tent in the living hall for both to camp indoor. They love it very much.

And every time we traveled back to KL in the car, I put a blanket in between 2 seats. It looks like a tent to her and she will happily sleep under it. It will help to keep the hot sun shining on her face. Of coz she has a seat belt on, she takes the middle belt. Safety comes first. Nice to see her sleep peacefully.

    • Things They Said…

      February 24, 2010

Our family does not subscribe to Astro, hubby just wants to keep them off the TV and does more non-TV stuff. During CNY visitation,

Timothy: Mummy, let’s go visit people’s house who has Astro so that I can watch their Astro.

In fact we did visit a few houses with Astro CN. Whose house got Astro CN, Timothy wants to visit you.

      xoxoxox

Mummy: When you grow up, where you want to work?
Emily: I want to work in your office so that I can work from home.

      xoxoxox

My children were eager to open their CNY angpows. I let them because I wanted them to put away some to contribute to the church. They were all excited to check how much they collected.

Emily: Mummy, this one has 4 money but this only has one. I want more with 4 money.

Actually, the 4 pieces are RM1 notes but the 1 is RM50. Maybe I should give her four RM1 in exchange for her RM50. :giggles:

    • KL CNY Fun

      February 21, 2010

After 7 days in Kuala Lumpur, I guess my children had the most fun. I asked them whether they want to go back, all thumbs up. That’s because they…

Collected lots of angpows while mummy giving a lot away too.

On a hot day, they wanted to swim in my sis condo pool. They had the entire pool by themselves.

They went to Berjaya Times Square Cosmo’s World Theme Park. Emily rode on the bumper cars many times while Tim did it once. He didn’t feel comfortable in the car as he has long legs. They went on the train, merry-go-round, swinging ship, fantasy trill, crazy bus, train ride and playground. There wasn’t any queue which they can afford to go on those rides many times. It is just like a mini Genting there. Emily wanted to ride the bumper car again and again and again….. If I didn’t make a dinner appointment, I bet she can be there the whole day.

They had fun in the free Ikea indoor playground while I did my Ikea shopping. They also got two containers home for their toys.

They ate gelato, homemade yogurt and of coz the McD ice-cream. It was a hot day, so I just let them have it. They discovered the 7-11 coolest drink in the world aka Slurpee.

Bought plenty of books from MPH. Some were gift from my mom.

They had Shabu Shabu steamboat which I love.

I wanted to bring them to Desa waterpark but the weather was gloomy during the last 2 days we were there.

As for me, when I came back, I had to prepare for Sunday School CNY special. So much to do and so little time. I didn’t meet with any of you, so sorry.

    • Smelly Skunk

      February 17, 2010

Papa accidentally let out some air and Emily called him Smelly Skunk. I am amazed that she can create such a funny remark.

Another word I thought her is “drama queen”. She asked me what it was and I just have to tell her what she did at one occasion. She knew straight away what drama queen meant.

Today, I got her a mathematic Kumon book since she develop an interest in solving mathematics equations. She is happy when she gets it all correct. Kumon books are pretty costly. However I cannot find any good mathematics books for her age.
