Parents Have Little Say
May 27, 2006Today I decided to cook lunch for them and take them shopping after their nap. They got pretty excited when I said I am going to buy them Mickey Mouse and Tigger tees.
Emily started to pick what clothes she wants to where. She will be very happy if she gets to wear the one she picks. Now she goes for all the cartoon characters, Pooh, Tigger, Mickey, Popeye, Mermaid, etc…Oh she told me that she wants a Tigger birthday cake. Daddy did you hear that?
Today during dinner, I wanted to reward them with some ice cream and pick somewhere that serve ice cream. Tim saw Sushi King and kept pulling me in that direction. He loves the Edamame. I told him, Sushi King doesn’t serve ice cream. He still wanted to go there. He didn’t allow me to enter any other restaurant. It was so funny, the waiter from Nandos came out to ask us “How many persons?” Tim shouted “Sushi King”. The waiter got a shock. 😯 Oh well, Tim won, we ate in Sushi King.
Later we went to a free indoor playground and ToysRus. They had fun playing. Both slept on the way home. I had the pleasure of listening to the radio and taking a cruise on the road. The radio was playing good songs. I love doing that and miss doing it. I used to do that in KL. It brings back lots of memories.
Oh, I watched the downloaded American Idol when my children had their nap. It was great and without any commercials! I love the part when they showed the impersonator of Clay Aiken, Michael Sandecki receiving the award and sang. Then the charming Clay Aiken came out from behind and sang together with him. Michael had the shock of his life. It was so touching as I can see in Michael’s eyes, it is really a dream come true to be singing with Clay himself. Of coz the Puck & Pickler was so funny. :giggles: Katherine McPhee sang very well with Meatloaf, “It’s all coming back to me now..” Overall both guys and gals groups gave a brilliant performance.
The not so good part was, not sure whether it was my ear or what. I couldn’t hear what Toni Braxton was singing. The singer who sang with Elliot Yamin was taking over the performance. :sc: Actually I love the finale better than the day before where the final 2 perform.

Best Medicine In The World
May 26, 2006Yesterday, I am not feeling too well, have been loosing a lot of blood. Everytime I stand up, I feel dizzy. Hands shaking and body aching. I got ½ day MC from my company’s doctor.
I went back home to snooze. When I woke up, it was time to pick Tim and Emily back. I took a shower and pick both of them. I told them, they have to be good boy and good gal as mummy is not feeling well. Pretending to be crying and asked “You sayang mummy or not?”
Emily came with a cheekiest smile, the sweetest smile I ever seen. If I had a camera in my hand, I would have captured that. She came very close to me and I don’t have a clue what she was about to do. That’s the moment that make me felt good, better than any medicine in the world. She planted a kiss on my cheek. :giggles: When Tim saw that, he did the same on the other cheek.
Later, I send them all to bed by 8:30pm. No joke. I had to miss the finale of Americal Idol. 😥 Fortunately I can download it today.

Swirls
May 10, 2006After reading twinmom’s blog on ZiHeng’s head. I immediately to look at Emily’s head, I already knew Tim has a swirl. Hers is so special, it has branches. Anyone know what hers mean? :sc: MIL told me once before if got more spirals meaning very naughty and difficult to discipline. My nephew has 2. Some folk tales said that if it swirl in certain direction, it can determine the next child’s gender. Branches telling me to STOP. 😆

Cry
May 4, 2006Both my children have different expression when crying
Emily:
She will move her mouth downwards. In Cantonese, it is called “been chui”. Then she makes crying sound or sometimes yelling. Later her tears will flow out. She will put her fingers into the mouth. She will then roll on the floor. If you try to pick her up, she will struggle to get away. For a little gal, she has strength like a bull. If you leave her alone for a while like 1-2 min, later go saying her, she will stop.
Timothy:
He will move his eyebrow like a china man look with two of them pointing at the nose. Then his tears will flow and sound will come. He will start rubbing his eyes with both of his hands. At one time, he rubbed so hard that the skin near the eye went red and bruise a little. He will find mummy and put his head on mummy so that I can sayang him. He will stop once I sayang him.

Changing Topic
April 22, 2006My children learn the art of changing topic when confronted with things they do not like to hear.
Emily’s Story
As I was picking her up from the nanny, as usual the nanny will talk about her.
Nanny: Emily didn’t want to eat rice, run here and there. I took the cane out, only she sit quietly to eat,
Emily interrupted: Mummy see. *pointing at the TV* So farnee. Hehehehe…see, mummy see.
Nanny: Emily, ni yo kwai tan, ma?. *spoke in mandarin* meaning are you a rotten egg?
Emily: Mummy shoe shoe, wear. Wear Shoe. Bye Bye Yi Yi.
Mummy:
Tim’s Story
Daddy: You sayang mei mei or not? *knowing he always bully mei mei*
Tim: Aiyo train long long one.
Daddy: Daddy asked you, you sayang Emily or not?
Tim: Later you buy me black car ah?
I really do not know where they learn it from but somehow both can just switch topic. Either children getting smarter or as parents, we are too easy on them.

Heavy Workout
April 9, 2006
A panoramic view of the park:On Saturday, I had to wake up early in the morning to see the eye doctor. I had to go to a couple of follow up after the last incident of infection. It’s free, so I take full opportunity of it. I went there to register myself, so that I will be the first one to see the doc. If not, there will be a long queue. Sometimes one patient can take an hour. Anyway my eyes are fine.
After that, I took the children to the park because it was a beautiful day, not too sunny and no rain. First they ran around the park, played slides, see-saw, horsy spring, swing and basically running around. Last time I used to follow Emily around, afraid she will fall. Now she is big enough, doesn’t fall so easily. I just watch them from afar, to make sure no big kids pushed them. The park was superb, it is big and has everything.
Later, they went to a workout area, actually it is for adult. They pretend they were doing workout, actually they just want daddy to take photos of them. It was a fun day with a breath of fresh air and a whole lot of sweat. What a good way to make them tired? 😆

School Registration
April 6, 2006I heard from my friend that the schools are opened for registration in March. During lunch time, I went to the school, hoping to register Timothy. The school officer asked me to come back next year March. 🙁
What documents required for school registration?
1. Actual copy of the birth cert and a photocopy of it.
2. Utility bill showing the address of your house.
3. Pay slip for both parents. *not sure why they need it for*By the way, I am registering him to national school. Why? Because mummy and daddy came from National school. I prefer to be able to help them with their studies. I want my children to be more relaxed without all the heavy homework. Life is not all about homework and As. I want them to learn with fun. No doubt learning mandarin is important. I will register them to extra classes for mandarin.
I heard that now in Chinese schools, they have English and Chinese subject for Maths and Science. Double homework for 2 subjects although the contents are the same.
Do check with your school of choice for registration info.

April 2, 2006Tim: Mummy I wanna watch Kiki Mouse.
Emily: Watch Barney.
Tim: I wanna watch Pingu.
Emily: Wanna Buzz LightYear.
Tim: Wanna watch Pingu.
Emily: Watch Barney.
Mummy at the player, waiting for them to decide. Fortunately I only have 2. Anyway, they are choosing their babysitter to keep them quiet as long as the show lasts.

Sleep
March 3, 2006
How many hours do you sleep now, especially after having children? Not many I presumed.
Previously when I was single, when I had all the time in the world, I used to sleep in especially during the weekends. I can wake up like in the afternoon. I used to sleep a lot! In fact I love sleeping, it is one of my favorite past time. I was also a vampire, like to keep awake at night, because of the quietness of the night. I used to burn a lot of midnight oil, studying, doing homework, surfing on Internet and watching TVB series and etc, until 3-4 am. I remembered when I had to do my final thesis for final term in University I stayed up until 7am to complete it. I can stayed awake for more than 24 hours and I can sleep through for 24 hours. I guess average I slept 10-12 hours a day and at least a 2-3 hours nap.
With children, I can do that no more.. Especially when Tim was born, he was a demanding baby. He didn’t sleep well, he wakes up at least 3 times at night. When he wakes up in the morning, I have to wake up. No more sleeping in! When he arrived, my sleeping routine was overturned. I have to follow his sleeping pattern. He drove me nuts, at 1 point in time, I almost said to myself “1 kid is enough!!” Thank God, by the age of 2, he slept through the night. Tim trained me to sleep less or maybe I was growing old that I do not need so many hours of sleep. Average I slept 6 hours per day and only 30min to 1 hour nap during the weekend. Emily was a sleeper like me and she didn’t give me much problem.
Both of them is well trained, sleep early so that I can go back to staying late nights. They sleep by 9-10pm. I have 2-3 hours to enjoy. Often they have 1 nap during the weekends for 2-3 hours, and I will take the opportunity there to nap too. Average now I sleep 8 hours a day. However I still miss sleeping in on Saturday till noon.
