    • Cry

      May 4, 2006

Both my children have different expression when crying

      Emily:

She will move her mouth downwards. In Cantonese, it is called “been chui”. Then she makes crying sound or sometimes yelling. Later her tears will flow out. She will put her fingers into the mouth. She will then roll on the floor. If you try to pick her up, she will struggle to get away. For a little gal, she has strength like a bull. If you leave her alone for a while like 1-2 min, later go saying her, she will stop.

      Timothy:

He will move his eyebrow like a china man look with two of them pointing at the nose. Then his tears will flow and sound will come. He will start rubbing his eyes with both of his hands. At one time, he rubbed so hard that the skin near the eye went red and bruise a little. He will find mummy and put his head on mummy so that I can sayang him. He will stop once I sayang him.

    • Fright

      April 30, 2006

Yesterday, I took the children shopping. After returning, I send them to bed because it was late. They both went to sleep. I went downstairs and continue working until 1a.m. I went up to my bedroom. Usually I will on the stairs light and open the bedroom door and check that the children are sleeping properly, before I switch off the light to go to bed.

By the way, this is not a ghost story. 😛 When I went into the room, I saw hubby and Timothy sleeping. Emily was missing. She was not on the bed and no where to be found. No, she was not underneath any blanket. It gave me a fright. I looked outside other rooms, not there. Where could she be? I switch on the room dimmer lights, which I can adjust the brightness, so that I don’t wake Tim and my hubby up. I couldn’t find her.

Later I heard some sound coming beneath the bed. She was sleeping under the bed. I don’t know how she could crawl as I had pillow covering the hole and the height of the bed is low. I slowly help her out. She wasn’t crying at all and after she came out, she just continued sleeping. :sc: There was no bum on her head. What a fright! 😯

    • Changing Topic

      April 22, 2006

My children learn the art of changing topic when confronted with things they do not like to hear.

      Emily’s Story

As I was picking her up from the nanny, as usual the nanny will talk about her.

Nanny: Emily didn’t want to eat rice, run here and there. I took the cane out, only she sit quietly to eat,

Emily interrupted: Mummy see. *pointing at the TV* So farnee. Hehehehe…see, mummy see.

Nanny: Emily, ni yo kwai tan, ma?. *spoke in mandarin* meaning are you a rotten egg?

Emily: Mummy shoe shoe, wear. Wear Shoe. Bye Bye Yi Yi.

      Mummy:

      Tim’s Story

Daddy: You sayang mei mei or not? *knowing he always bully mei mei*

Tim: Aiyo train long long one.

Daddy: Daddy asked you, you sayang Emily or not?

Tim: Later you buy me black car ah?

I really do not know where they learn it from but somehow both can just switch topic. Either children getting smarter or as parents, we are too easy on them.

    • Heavy Workout

      April 9, 2006

A panoramic view of the park:

On Saturday, I had to wake up early in the morning to see the eye doctor. I had to go to a couple of follow up after the last incident of infection. It’s free, so I take full opportunity of it. I went there to register myself, so that I will be the first one to see the doc. If not, there will be a long queue. Sometimes one patient can take an hour. Anyway my eyes are fine.

After that, I took the children to the park because it was a beautiful day, not too sunny and no rain. First they ran around the park, played slides, see-saw, horsy spring, swing and basically running around. Last time I used to follow Emily around, afraid she will fall. Now she is big enough, doesn’t fall so easily. I just watch them from afar, to make sure no big kids pushed them. The park was superb, it is big and has everything.

Later, they went to a workout area, actually it is for adult. They pretend they were doing workout, actually they just want daddy to take photos of them. It was a fun day with a breath of fresh air and a whole lot of sweat. What a good way to make them tired? 😆

    • WHOOSHHHH

      April 5, 2006

Time flies so very fast, now my gal has grown so much. Either that or I am getting OLD. 😥 She outsmart mummy. Blame it on the DHA.

      Moments 1:
      Mummy: Emily, you want ice-cream?
      Emily: Iccce klim. *nod head*
Mummy scoop ice-cream into the bowl and pass it to her.
      Emily: Tank you mummy.

Mummy and Daddy were teaching Tim to say thank you after receiving something. Emily picked that up. Now every time she gets something, she say thank you.

      Moments 2:
Mummy: What you want to watch?
      Emily: Barney
Mummy: This one? *take something other than Barney*
Emily: Mm moi. Mm moi. *make hand gesture and point to Barney VCD*
      Mummy: This one.
      Emily: *smile* Barney.
Mummy: Go sit at the sofa to watch.
Emily: *swing her little butt and climb onto the sofa*

      Moments 3:
Mummy misplaced the air-condition remote control.

Mummy: Where is the remote control?
Emily: Here. *she point at the remote control*

Sometimes she tricks mummy, say here but nothing there. 😮

      Moments 4:
Emily dislikes putting on seatbelt. She is supposed to sit on her car seat but Timothy will rush and occupied the car seat. For short journey, I allow Emily to sit next to me without the car seat. When she starts standing or move around in the car…

      Mummy: Emily you want seatbelt?
      Emily: mm moi *shake head*
      Mummy: Sit properly

Emily will sit properly but later she will start moving again. Mummy have to keep repeating.

      April 2, 2006

Tim: Mummy I wanna watch Kiki Mouse.

      Emily: Watch Barney.

      Tim: I wanna watch Pingu.

      Emily: Wanna Buzz LightYear.

      Tim: Wanna watch Pingu.

      Emily: Watch Barney.

Mummy at the player, waiting for them to decide. Fortunately I only have 2. Anyway, they are choosing their babysitter to keep them quiet as long as the show lasts.

    • Sleepless Night

      March 28, 2006

Yesterday, I don’t know what happen to Emily. She was crying every other hour during the night, until 5am. She was crying for Barney, Buzz Lightyear, want to wee wee, want mummy to remove her diaper. This is the first time she cried in her sleep. :sc:

Poor me, I am so tired the whole day. Due to lack of sleep, my mind floating in mid air. Worst I have to finish 5 IT contract agreements dateline today. I am so not myself. I can feel myself floating. Strange hor? Some more nearing “Ching Ming”. 😆

Sorry no blogs today, just some whining. Let’s hope my gals sleep well tonight or I will move her to another room.

    • Medicine

      March 25, 2006

After reading Zara’s experience on medicine, it inspired me to post this.

Every child hates to take medicine. When my children first encounter with medicine, they obviously hate it. Often need 2 person to force feed the medicine in. One to hold the child and the other to feed. After a while, either the child gave up the fighting or we as parents master the skill. I must say both have no problem with medicine. I can pop it into the spoon and they can take it from there.

A tip with feeding medicine I learnt is that I often use a syringe and I squeeze the medicine at the side of the mouth. That way, the chances of the medicine getting onto the tongue is less and no bad taste or after taste. For really bitter medicine, I prepare 2 syringes, one with the medicine and the other with water. After I pump in the medicine, I will pump the water to quickly wash it down. I ensure that the medicine is flowing by the side and not directly into, to prevent choking. Placing the child lying on high pillow.

Last week, Emily was down with high fever. The doctor ran out of her usual liquid antibiotic, must have been a lot of children having fever lately. She asked me do I have problem with pills. With pills, of coz you cannot pop it down a child’s throat. I wish, it was that easy. I need to open the capsule to get the powder out, to feed her. The doctor suggested that I mix it into Vitagen for her to sip it down. She warned me that the medicine was very bitter.

Silly mummy, I followed her advice. I put the powder into Yakult and put back the cap, put the straw in for her to sip. She took 1 sip and she gave it back to me saying “pu yau”. :wall: Now the problem gets worst. How to feed her the entire bottle of Yakult, I cannot syringe it in??!! :sc: I cannot open another capsule to feed her, it will cause overdose. Fortunately, she drinks it all after I put into her favourite cup and spoon-fed her. Hey I should have more confident in my gal.

Next dose, I just mix water with the powder and use the syringe instead. She has no problem with it. By the way, never mix bitter medicine in their milk. The child will hate his milk next time.
