One day Emily returned home after going out with her papa. She shouted.

      Emily: Mummy! Mummy!
Mummy: I am in here, honey.
Emily: I have something for you. *all excited*
Mummy: What is it? *all excited too*

She showed me what she got and here it is. Nice a not?

Sometimes she will pluck flowers for me. Isn’t she sweet?

Last Saturday, Tim and her school had an open day for parents and teachers to meet and talk about the progress of the children. For Emily, she excels in everything she does. However she needs to improve her “moodiness”. As for Tim, he has improved in everything.

I also learned that Emily is the school principal assistance. Her principal told me that she knows who is who and she also knows what class the children is in. See how kepoh she can be. She helps the principal to send messages and do things for her. I am so proud of her.

    • My mother relayed this incident about my children to me. I was in the living hall watching TV while my children were upstairs playing with por por. I told my mother not to feed them with too much junk food. I was afraid they may get sick and would not be able to enjoy the vacation.

My mother took out a box of chocolate and asked them to take one. That’s what por por do behind my back.

Tim: Mummy said cannot have chocolate.

Emily took the chocolate and took a bite quickly.

Tim: Emily, you better tell mummy you ate the choc.

Emily ignored him and finished the choc. She felt satisfied. Tim didn’t have any but insisted Emily to tell me that she had the chocolate.

Emily came to me but didn’t tell me about the chocolate. Later Tim came down.

Tim: Did Emily tell you anything?

Mummy: What is Emily suppose to tell me?

I can see Timothy wanted to protect her sister and at the same time wanted the sister to be honest. However Emily pretended nothing happen.

Emily is teaching me Chinese and she is very good at it. At least she got me speechless. It is tough to ever argue with her. I think she can be a lawyer.

Emily: Mummy ren () is children

      Mummy: ren () is people

Emily: No ah, teacher said ren () is children *Using the “teacher is always right” tactic*

Mummy: ren () is people that includes children mah.

Emily: No, no, no…Child(). Got () at the end of children.

      Mummy: Ohhh…. & speechless

    • Emily Birthday Wish

      May 28, 2008

Emily knows that her birthday is coming. I told her she can go to the toys shop to select her present. We went to the toys shop a couple of times but she has not decided what she wants. One day she wants this and the next day she wants that. Gals, they can be very fickle minded. Her choices were a Barbie doll dancing set or a digital camera or a pool of balls or a doll house.

I quite like the idea of a digital camera toy that really takes digital pictures. She may become a little photographer. Fisher Price is selling it for RM200. Anyone know anywhere cheaper?

As for her celebration, she wants to have it with her school friends. She just has to wait for school re-opens. Guess what picture she wants on her cake? I hope she hasn’t changed her mind again.

    • Emily developed a habit of saying this: “I told ya” & “I don’t like”. She gets the kick out of picking on mummy’s people’s mistake and correcting them. She will be very happy if she is right and I am wrong. Just to excite her, I purposely do it wrong. Shh …shhh please don’t tell her that.

Mummy: Please go get your pajamas in the ironing room
Emily: It is not in the ironing room
Mummy: Not there meh? Where is it?
Emily: It is in the old room, come see. *mummy followed her*
      Emily: See I told ya!
      Mummy: 😉

      *****

Emily: Not like that one, it is like this. *fixing her toys*
      Mummy: Huh?
      Emily: I told ya!

      *****

Mummy: Please go play your toys. *mummy busy watching 7pm TVB series*
      Emily: I don’t like.
      Mummy: Go do your homework.
      Emily: I don’t like.
      Mummy: *ignore her*
Emily: Mummy, I don’t like doing things.
Mummy: What you want to do?
      Emily: I don’t know.
Mummy: Go to the fridge and get yourself a sweet.
      Emily: I like *run away*

    • Sleeping Style

      April 21, 2008

Two days in a row, Emily has come up with really peculiar sleeping style. First one last Friday, I am sure you want to know why she is sleeping on the stairs. Nope she was not waiting for mummy or too tired, walk up halfway and slept. In fact, she was very naughty, didn’t listen to me and I scolded her. She was crying outside the room. I left her there and went downstairs. Don’t worry, I was nearby. I heard her coming down but it was 4 steps down. Later it was very quiet and I suspected she has fallen asleep crying.

Yesterday, when I went in to her room and wanted to nap with her. Look what I saw? She wrapped herself like a “mummy” and felt asleep. What is your children sleeping style?

    • Look Familiar

      April 17, 2008

As I was buying lunch yesterday, I saw a little gal who is a little younger than Emily. However her actions were very similar to Emily. She was very upset, not sure why. She stood on the chair. Anyone who approached her or want to distract her, she will use her hand to push them away. Her eyes were teary and had an angry facial expression.

My mum has a name for this, she called it “ta pat toong”. Yeap she is a mahjong player. Her actions were so much similar to Emily when she is upset. She will not let anyone touch her. She will either use her hand to push us away or foot to kick us. She will do that until she cools down. If I scold her, she will cry. Usually, I will just leave her alone. However if she was upset with papa or kor kor, she probably wants me to “sayang” her.

Now I wonder how little gals learn this. Does your little gal do this?

    • StoryTime From Emily

      April 13, 2008

Mummy: Who are your friends in school?

      Tim: *thinking*

Emily: Jin Ren, Hogan, Farah, Marcus and Je Yee. Today Jin Ren, Hogan, Marcus didn’t come. Farah and Je Yee are here.

      Another day….

Mummy: Did you finish your homework?

Emily: Mummy I don’t have homework. I finished in school. I fast fast do and show teacher. Teacher gave me sticker.

      Another day…

Mummy: What did you eat in school today?

      Tim: Sausage.

Emily: I eat sausage. Hogan made my sausage fall on the floor. He knocked it down. I told teacher. Teacher gave me another plate. Then I bite the sausage, it broke into 2. I ngap ngap ngap (aka munch munch munch) and finished. *showing actions*

Emily loves to tell me story even when it is a yes and no answer. She will go on and on about what she did, what she eat, how she eat, etc…

When she is not crying, she can be fun to play with. I hope she will loose her silly “me attitude”. What’s the silly “me attitude? Whenever she wants something and she doesn’t get, she will cry. Sounds familiar?
