Self Made TuTu
September 26, 200816 CommentsMy church will do a mini Christmas production year end. I volunteered to take charge of the props. I have to make back drop with help, shepherd costume, sheep, angel costume and wise men. Yeah it is the manger scene where Jesus was born. I just found out that the Bible didn’t mentioned that angel have wings. Anyway I still have to do the wings for the children sake.
First up, I had to get the material. It is not easy because in Penang, there aren’t many craft shops. This production is with no budget at all. Therefore everything I get has to be low cost. I am glad Penang has Kamdar that sells variety of cloth.
For angel costume, I need to make a tutu. First I google for patterns and I found quite helpful instructions with beautiful tutu. The angel tutu will be all white but this one I made for Emily is a fairy tutu. It is not part of the Christmas production. Just for fun for Emily. Believe me it is very easy to make. Let me know if you want to make one, it cost less RM10 to do this and no sewing skills required.
Here is the picture…

Next up is the wings, hey any of you know where I can get cheap white stockings or pantyhose?

Yeah Yeah
September 23, 20088 CommentsMy FIL can be very funny at times and I must record this incident down. One morning he came to our home to help us to fetch the children to school. Sometimes it takes a while for Emily to fully wake up in the morning. I will turn on the TV for her to watch cartoon while she takes her milk. However the TV volume was very low.
My FIL picked up our cordless phone on top of the TV and ask Emily to increase the volume. :giggles:
Too bad Emily was half awake to notice that. She would have laugh at yeah yeah if she saw the cordless phone.
Yeah Yeah does the darnest thing. At least he cheered my morning up with his little humor.

The Right Way
September 19, 200813 CommentsI was browsing my hubby’s iPhone and found some interesting pictures. Let my children show you the right way to eat and drink.
The most comfortable position of eating

Eat with 2 spoons

Or drink with 2 straws – Orange & Coke Cooktail. Who needs a shaker??!!

Exact Words
September 4, 200814 CommentsSometimes I am really amazed how children can absorb the things we say. I was telling my son things and I thought he was not listening but I often find surprises. Here is what I heard when Tim was having a conversation with Emily.
Tim: You cannot bring this toy over there (to the babysitter’s place).
Emily: Can.
Tim: Later lost then you know.
Emily: *ignore*
Tim: You don’t listen to me, is it?Those were my exact words to Tim when I asked him not to bring his transformer toys to babysitter place. And I thought he was not listening to me. I have to really be careful of what I say at home. My hubby was upset with me when he copied me by saying “Your Head”. My bad. Yeah it is difficult for them to unlearn what they have learned. :wall: So next best thing is to confuse him by saying “your feet”, “your hand”,…etc. :giggles:

Grandma’s House
August 31, 20087 CommentsI was having a conversation with Tim and Em. I asked both of them whether they missed por por.
Mummy: Haven’t seen por por for a long time. Do you miss por por?
Tim & Em: Yes I missed por por.
Mummy: You call por por to come to Penang and visit you. *testing the water*
Tim & Em: We go visit por por. I want to go por por house.
Mummy: I called por por and ask her to come visit us.
Tim & Em: Don’t ask por por to come here. We go to por por house. I like to stay in por por’s house.
Both of them like to go down to KL more than anything. They always ask me when they can visit por por. I wonder do they really missed por por or they want to go KL?
Why do they like grandma house? Maybe it is the dog or the food or the shopping or por por gifts or just being there.

Healthy Snacks For Children
August 25, 200810 CommentsTim loves this and so do I. It is the Japanese Green soy bean called Edamame. I got a pack from Jusco and I usually steam it when I want some snacks to chew on. Another great snack that my family has is sweet corn. Tim and Emily love getting those little corns out from the cob. It is another healthy way to snack. It is definately better than fries, chips or sweets.
Now Emily discovered prunes from SunSweet. After she takes it, her stool becomes soft.

Of Electricity & Changing Our Lifestyle
August 13, 200815 CommentsI spotted that my electricity bill has gone up and price also went up.
Previously: First 200 units are 0.218 per unit. Above 200 units is 0.289 per unit. Not sure what is the ceiling because we never reach it.
Now: First 500 units are 0.3 per unit. Above 500 units is 0.39 per unit.
That is about 38% increase for first 200 units. That’s a lot!
Hrmm…everything is costly now. I told my children that everyone sleeps in the same room so that we only utilize 1 air condition at night instead of 2. My children were so excited and happy to be able to sleep with papa and mummy. My hubby said that they woke up happier too and for Emily, less moody in the morning.
It is good to have the children sleep together with us. One of my friends said when the children grew older, they probably don’t want to do that. How true, so enjoyed it while I can. They are able to sleep in their own room, if they want too. In addition my family can conserved energy too.
Let’s see what my electricity bill like for next month.

Gift For You
August 10, 200812 CommentsOne day Emily returned home after going out with her papa. She shouted.
Emily: Mummy! Mummy!
Mummy: I am in here, honey.
Emily: I have something for you. *all excited*
Mummy: What is it? *all excited too*She showed me what she got and here it is. Nice a not?

Sometimes she will pluck flowers for me. Isn’t she sweet?

Last Saturday, Tim and her school had an open day for parents and teachers to meet and talk about the progress of the children. For Emily, she excels in everything she does. However she needs to improve her “moodiness”. As for Tim, he has improved in everything.
I also learned that Emily is the school principal assistance. Her principal told me that she knows who is who and she also knows what class the children is in. See how kepoh she can be. She helps the principal to send messages and do things for her. I am so proud of her.

The Letter
August 1, 20088 Comments

The important piece of paper from the ministry has arrived. Yeap this paper will determine where my child’s primary education will be. It is a little peculiar because the envelop noted the school address but the letter is from the Penang Education Minister. I believed that the minister must have send to the school for them to distribute. Therefore, if you don’t receive it next week, you can check with the school.
The letter is in Bahasa Malaysia, so I need dig up my BM from my old brain storage. Ooh, the BM is a little out or is it me? Hear this:
“Sehubungan dengan itu dimaklumkan anak tuan/puan yang telah menbuat permohonan penempatan ke Tahun Satu sesi persekolahan tahun 2009 di sekolah SEK ABC pada TAHUN 2009 adalah DILULUSKAN di sekolah SEK ABC”
Lots of repetitions of year, the school name and I think it should be “telah DILULUSKAN”
Anyway I have been instructed to go to the school to make a confirmation of the placement in the month of August. Add to next week’s chore.
By the way, it is good to tell your child about the new school so that he/she is prepared. I started telling Timothy and Emily wanted to join him. Hrmm….

Bento Craze
August 1, 200819 CommentsEvery other blogs I read, I see mothers making lovely bento set or buying lovely bento gadgets. If I cannot beat the craze, I might else well join in the fun. Yeap I got myself (yes myself) a bento set yesterday and made my first bento fruits for my children.

Winnie The Pooh fruits. Too bad the fruits stall sold only papaya and honey dew. I wanted to make Winnie The Watermelon. It is real cute. Verdict from Tim and Emily….”It tastes good!” Not that they don’t like fruits.

Next weekend I will make onigiri lunch for them, I wonder will they like it? I will see…..
