      June 13, 2008

Tim was very afraid to stay in a hotel when he was 2. Every time we have a vacation, I have difficulty with him. We entered the hotel, he will stick to me like a panda. Refuse to let me go. That was before Emily was born. I still could not figure out his phobia. He didn’t have any problem when he was 1.

Now, every now and then, he will ask me when will I bring him to stay in a hotel. He will like any hotels. When he reached the room, he will climb on the bed with Emily and jump around. It is like his indoor playground. Maybe our bed is not as good as the hotel.

Most of all, I am glad both Tim and Emily can sleep anywhere without any problem. Just like mom and dad. 😛

    • Cameron & Car Trouble

      June 6, 2008

Now with the rise of petrol price, we will think of alternatives to reduce our expenses. However it will have the ripple effect on many things and sooner everything will go up in price. Let’s hope it will be under control.

My friend drives a diesel car and he claims that the fuel consumption is low. It can go a long way with a full tank. He drove it up to Cameron. By the way, my family went to Cameron Highlands for a Church Family camp. We have about 85+ people. Anyway after the 3rd day of camp, his car couldn’t start because of the cold weather. With diesel car, you need to warm up the car. We all decided to help to push start. After the 4th time with the car going back and forth, it started. On the last day, returning home, the same thing. I did help in pushing too. Fortunately will all our help and God’s blessing, the car decided to run again. So much for diesel car in cold weather.

I must say that Cameron is a land of strawberry. I love the fresh strawberry ice-cream and it taste real good. If you go up there, you must try it. Talking about strawberry ice-cream, I must tell you about Emily. She dozed off after lunch while we are going out for sight seeing. Hrmm…so much for sight seeing, I thought I had to carry her around. Anyway when she heard and saw the strawberry ice-cream. Her eyes were as big as the strawberry. :giggles:

There were lots of strawberry farms out there. Some of them, you can pluck, pick and buy. I got a box for RM5. It doesn’t taste as sweet as the ones from US. Next to buy are sweet corns. You can eat it raw, yes without steaming. It tastes just as sweet. Flowers are everywhere but I will not buy them because when you take them back to the hot weather, it will not last.

Vegetables are fresh and ample supply. The next best thing to do with the cold weather is have steam boat. Yummy…we eat and sang all night.

Tim came back with a bad rash. I suspect is the hard water and some say that it may contain pesticide chemical in the water. However with application of calamine lotion, he feels much better now.

    • Back From Cameron

      June 3, 2008

I am back! It was a great trip up in Cameron Highlands. The air was so fresh and you do not need any fan or air-cond up there. It saves a lot of electricity there. However you need hot water though. Cameron Highland has changed so much since I last went which was when I was in primary school. Now it has lots more plantations.

      Tea Plantation

However because of the school holidays, many people went up there for vacations. The roads were congested.

Sorry, I will blog more about my trip later. Lots of very interesting things happen that I would like to share. I guess you have to wait.

I just finished reading most of the blogs on my Google reader and check all my work emails. This week will be real busy for me and also a special week for me too. :giggles:

    • Birthday Vacation

      March 17, 2008

Where did we go? Hawaii? Nah, it was like Hawaii but we were at Penang Golden Sands Hotel. First it had a great view from our room. I booked a sea view room. Look what my 2 monkeys did when they check in to the room?

My children were too excited, at least for Tim, he didn’t nap. He was anxious to swim and play water at the pool. Both of them had a great time in the pool with dad, while I relaxed at the sun bathing bench, catching up with some reading. It has wifi in the hotel.

Emily was brave, she tried out horse riding on her own. The horseman was clever, he carried Emily to sit on the horse although we didn’t agree on the price of the ride. It was RM50. 😯 I was clever too and made a bargain for it, brought it down. Most of the activities on the beach were RM50. No wonder they had so many Jet Skies lined up. Of coz, sand play was FREE. By the way, there is also an Adventurous Zone for kids, just like kidsport in 1 Utama.

At night, my hubby decided to take us to SPICE MARKET in Rasa Sayang Shangri-la for buffet. We only had to pay for 2 adults. It was a great buffet with lots of fresh oyster, clams, big prawns, lobsters, Japanese food, satay, Indian Tandoori, sharkfin soup, local desserts, cakes, ice-cream, waffles, fruit juices and lots of food. I was so full when I finished. Oooh, there was a chocolate fountain with strawberries, marshmallows and dried peaches. Yummy! The price was RM120++ per adult. On special day, it may differ.

Oh well, it was worth the vacation for just 1 night. Who sez we have to go to Bali to enjoy?!! Guess what cartoon cake we got for Timothy? His gift is on the way, when it reaches Penang next week, I will tell you what it is. My gift too…hehehehe.

    • Petronas Twin Towers

      February 10, 2008

The Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers is the pride of Malaysia. I always admire the height and the beauty of it. It glows beautifully at night.

I had a chance to take my children up to the 41st floor on the sky bridge that joins both towers together. We got there at about 9:30am and got tickets for 12:00pm. Tickets are free but parking is not. A tip, if you want to save time, you need to before 8:30am. The counter opens at 8:30am and there is always a queue. Never go on a Monday because it is closed.

We lingered in the bookshop and had lunch before going up. As we entered in, there is a short 3D video presentation and after that we made our way up in groups. One lift can only take about 15 people. It is on the 41st floor. The sky bridge can withstand a movement of 10 inches. Any strong wind, we will need to evacuate.

It is a great view up there. My children have fun looking down on the scenery. Tim saw the big huge swimming pool and asked me to take him there next time. They fooled around. Tim started performing some kung fu move and Emily showing off her Ultraman hand gesture.

I am afraid of height and while standing on a platform that is up on midair gave me goose bumps. It was all gone when I saw the beauty of the surrounding. Oh well, that was 15 minutes of excitement and it was time for us to get back down. It is certainly another great place to go in Kuala Lumpur.

    • Pusat Sains Center

      February 9, 2008

Pusat Sains Center also known as the Science Center in Malaysia. It is a place for the young ones to enjoy science in a fun manner. It is also the green dome in Damansara that I always drove past but never been. I took my children there and they enjoyed it very much.

In comparison to other science center I have been, it doesn’t have that many things for children to explore. They were also having some renovation. The machines are not very well maintained and many were not in working condition.

The fun part, it has a play area with balls, puppet stage and playground for smaller children (age 2-4) to enjoy. Tim and Em liked that room very much. For me, I like to robotic sections. There are some robotic arms for us to try to pick objects with some button controls.

It has a big aquarium at the entrance and basically you can cover the entire are within 2 hours. It cost RM6 and children below 13 are free. If you haven’t been there, you can pay a visit to support our Science Center. More info here: http://www.psn.gov.my

After visiting the science center they became cute astronauts.

    • Hotel Plan Cancelled

      February 8, 2008

I had to cancel my plans to stay in the hotel because Emily fell sick after a few days in KL. She probably had too much fun or she ate too many sweets. She ends up having a bad cough and a mild fever.

I took her to a near by clinic. The doctor was a specialist but not a child specialist. I didn’t pay attention to his titles. I found that at times, some doc asked way too many questions at one time. He didn’t give me enough time to answer them all. Next he prescribed two bottles of medicine for her. However the name of the medication was not written on the bottles. I thought that it was a govt ruling that all medication names needs to be written on the label.

I requested the nurse to write the names on the bottles. I will never give medicine to my children without knowing what it is. I hope all parents do the same and request the doctor to write the name on the label.

It is a good practice as I need to know what medication works for my children and what doesn’t.

I guess I have to review Kuala Lumpur Traders Hotel next trip. I heard they have a very beautiful night view of Petronas Twin Tower. Emily is fine now but she still has a lot of phlegm to clear.

    • Power Puff

      January 19, 2008

One good thing with traveling in SIA flights, they give nice toys to children. Every time I traveled I will ask them for it. Look what they gave Emily. The whole set of Power Puff.

If I knew, I would have asked on my going flight. Opps sorry for being greedy. I was too lazy to carry it all the way to US, so I only request at return flight. Thanks SIA for making my gal happy. They also gave a 50 piece Ben-10 jigsaw for Tim.

Of coz, there are other good things with SIA. Now I earn enough points for my family to go on a free trip near by.

    • Bukit Merah Fun

      December 19, 2007

It was all fun for the children in Bukit Merah and a time of relaxing for me & hubby. No work, no email, no Internet and no blogging. We stayed in a nice apartment that only cost RM59, cheap deal eh? It also has a very huge swimming pool. One set back about the pool is that there are no rules and you see lots of people swimming without wearing proper swim wear. Yes there are people swimming with “tudung”. :wall:

Let me start with an interpretation of Tim’s second drawing. Tim & Emily had lots of fun in the water park. Emily enjoyed the water slide down. There is a ship with canon of water shooting out and Tim enjoyed fighting against it. He also fought with the waves. The bottle that he is holding in the picture is sun block, to protect his skin. The 2 round circles are big floats we rent to sail across the water.

What else is there in Bukit Merah? A boat ride to visit the Orang Utan island, Ecopark and a nice scenery. At night, you can head to the arcade center to play some arcade games.

Lastly, I thought I can escape from blogging but it just hunts me down. Yes at 8:30pm, I turned on the TV, I saw Kenny Sia on air playing Deal or No Deal. He really entertained us well not only in his blog but also live on air. First he opened all the big money. If you know the game well, that is not how it is played. I think he got the lowest offer in history from the banker if I am not wrong. The banker offers him RM50 at one moment. The rest you don’t want to know, watch it for yourself. He took home RM100.
